Apr 25th 2010 7:06PM This is a very good idea. However, taking a picture doesn't have to be just pressing the shutter release. There is a lot of thought and work that goes into good photography. A person can also enrich their travel experiences and find the same details as sketching if they explore photography past a "point and shoot" mentality.
Apr 30th 2009 1:34PM For traveling, a light tripod or a gorilla pod used with the camera's self timer or a remote shutter release is pretty awesome. Those set ups allows some more creativity when composing the shot. Yeah for self portraits that don't look like self portraits!
