Report: NHTSA investigation into 100,000 VW and Audi diesels intensifies {Autoblog}

No, Bosch is the reason why everyone knows about these HPFP issues.

I've had ABS computer failure, switch failures, CELs, electrical gremlins etc on a whole host of european cars (Volvo, Merc, BMW, VW) and all of them have been sourced to some failed Bosch component.

Report: NHTSA investigation into 100,000 VW and Audi diesels intensifies {Autoblog}

Feb 11th 2011 5:39PM The problem was with the TDI's HPFP rusting and sending metal shards up the fuel system to the fuel rails, thus stalling. Trust me, the majority of people who had issues on TDIclub and Vortex didn't put in bad gas or even bad oil. They have the sample analysis to prove it too. With that said, people were complaining about lubricity of US Diesel, etc as possible theories.

Needless to say, the new TFSI engines in the GTI were more reliable than the old FSI engines that were used until 2007; so my wife and I got a GTI for her instead of the original intended TDI Jetta Wagon.
