Nov 23rd 2009 6:38PM That 2 lane idea has to be the smartest thing I've heard in quite some time. Leave it to a pilot to have a good, simple idea. Congress and the FAA should be told about this, with the modern FMS/GPS systems it would be a fairly simple software patch.

Nov 2nd 2009 7:08PM My current GPS only has one option, and that is a female voice. But I'd still choose the female voice over a male one, on most of the others I have heard the female voice sounds clearer to me than the male ones.

Mar 12th 2009 7:32PM It's due to the FAA's "Sterile Cockpit" Rules. Basically, crew members can't do anything that isn't critical to flying the plane below 10,000 feet, or when taxiing (when actually moving, hence the parking brake reference)
