Top ten overrated international travel destinations {Gadling}
Mar 23rd 2011 7:18PM I would add just about ANY venue in Jamaica to this list. We have experienced many wonderful vacations in Jamaica in the past, especially at resorts around the Negril area on the northwest coast.
We will not be returning again, after what we've observed over the past two or three years. Why bother? There are many other Caribbean islands where tourists and other vistors are welcomed, and sometimes even appreciated.
Virtually any site on Jamaica has swarms of "folks" who demand your money, not for services or products, just for the Hell of it. Its a cultural t'ing you see, Mon.
Kingston has been wretched for many decades, and now most of the ports on the north side of that beautiful/tragic isle are way out of control. Crime of all kinds are common pretty much everywhere. Battalions of super-agressive "vendors" of shoddy junk and ganja appear everywhere; except behind the gates of the well guarded "all-inclusive" resorts.
Even then, the ever-charming "vendors" manage to sneak in along the beach, in order to pimp their wares . . .
No problem, Mon. NOT!
Best Buy to Adopt Walmart's 'Every Day Low Price' Strategy? {WalletPop}
Feb 15th 2011 11:04AM That's an easy one to answer: ALWAYS! They are selling commodities, and lowest price is King in that world.
BB is going the way of CC, and all I can say is good riddance.
Bye Bye Best Buy . . .

Brand New Norwegian Epic Cruise Ship has Technical Issue {AOL Travel News}
Jun 22nd 2010 6:22PM Instead of belittling the wonderful cruising experience, attempt to stretch your imagination a wee bit, and attempt to grasp why the entire cruise industry is growing by leaps and bounds.
Try to think of it as 600 - 4,000 potential friends you haven't yet met; enjoying themselves as they visit different places to sample the delights of different cultures and cuisines.
As with most other holiday venues, you can choose to interact with whomever you wish, OR NOT.
Much of this experience can be enjoyed (with a bit of planning) for as little as $65-$100 per person per day. Compare that to hotels or "all-inclusive" holidays.
That includes (at minimum) a small private cabin, all meals, many different kinds of entertainment and activities, as well as great personal service.
Of course you can always pay MUCH more for your cruising experience, and some choose to do so; but that is certainly not mandatory.
So, to those of you who disapprove of this way of traveling and enjoying life, please do us ALL a favor, do what you enjoy - or stay home - and let the rest of us cruise on . . .
American Airlines finds another fee - for early boarding {WalletPop}
Jun 17th 2010 9:17AM Pretty soon, if we have any solvent airlines left at all in this country, we will probably have ONE--and it will be like the old Aeroflot of the USSR.
Unreliable, unsafe, uncomfortable, and eventually unused.
These arrogant fools need to go bankrupt, and then stay bankrupt. They all suck.

Money College: One student's losing battle with private student loans {WalletPop}
Feb 28th 2010 12:40PM How silly of you to have wasted all that time and $$ for a practically useless ENGLISH degree. We can all see how that decision is working out.
Instead, you should have spent every waking and/or sleeping moment in college seeking what most coeds covet, that considerably more valuable MRS degree.
There's probably still time to leech, whoops, latch onto some fool who'll be more than willing to help you pay off your bloated loans. And you don't even have to really "love" him.
Simply fool him long enough to get tha MRS, the get into his bank account, retirement plans, etc. Pump him, then dump him . . . You'll surely get half of whatever he has saved, and maybe more if you play it right.
I suppose that's much better than what a shiny new BA in English will fetch, or you wouldn't be whining.
C'mon, don't wince and make that silly face. Its the American Way! It happens all the time, Sweety.
But, a gentle reminder, you have to work FAST. Why? Because whatever "special assets" you may now possess - will, in time, diminish - and will eventually be worth just about what you paid for them.
Remember, dear, fragile, Fruzcina, gravity always wins!
Princess Cruises brings back the good old days of saying bon voyage to friends on the ship {Gadling}
Feb 15th 2010 8:29PM As frequent cruisers (often on Princess, but also on other lines), we rate this onboard Bon Voyage party idea as WORSE than ridiculous.
It will be interesting to see what happens.
But first, a quick Reality Check: Perhaps seeing your family and friends off on a cruise made some sense in the days when ships were much smaller, rampant shipboard viruses were rare, and suicidal terrorists were not a daily threat.
That is not today!
It is painfully obvious that cruise lines are searching high and low for ways to make a few bucks in additional revenue, and to inrease their customer base. They have to pay for these huge fleets of megaships which continue to flood the cruise market with.
Therefore, we can understand why they might try to run this silly idea up the flagpole, to see if anyone salutes it. As you can see from this comment section, some folks have already embraced it. . . and others have not.
Princess has to remain competitive in ALL ways, in an increasingly dog-eat-dog marketplace. So, why make what has always been a hassle even worse? The initial boarding of passengers on a large ship is already frustrating, time consuming; and is usually one of the things that your cruisers dislike the most.
Now, you add the potential of hundreds - or conceivably even thousands - of additional "Bon Voyage" guests - who will have to pass through X-ray and metal detector-based security, going on and then off the ship . . .
Wow, pure genius. What were you thinking?
It really doesn't make much sense to any seasoned Princess cruiser, as you can say your good-byes at any number of venues at the departure port.
Sorry, Princess, although we rate you better overall than the other lines; there are PLENTY of others to choose from; so we will probably be returning to them if you expand this folly to your entire fleet.
