Microsoft opens its first retail stores - Video {Download Squad}
Oct 23rd 2009 8:13AM No worries. I'm not offended, just amused. I think people assume all tech bloggers have bias... and usually assume it's a pro-Apple bias for one reason or another.
I wouldn't say I'm biased against Apple per se. But I'm not really a Mac user, so while I always get a kick out of comments claiming that I prefer one thing or another, it's especially funny when people accuse me of being a Mac fanboy.
Microsoft opens its first retail stores - Video {Download Squad}
Oct 23rd 2009 7:08AM Heh... I love it when people start talking about my Apple bias. To be honest, I've never owned an Apple computer and while I've used a Mac a bit for audio editing with Pro Tools and video editing with Final Cut, I haven't found much that's convinced me I need a Mac instead of a PC.
But there's no denying that the Microsoft store seems to take some design cues from Apple.
The clapping thing isn't unusual in retail though. I know of a number of other retail chains that encourage employees to do the crazy clapping thing at store openings -- some do it just when the store launches, others do it (or something equally silly) every day when the doors open.

WinExt is a powerful alternative to the Windows Taskbar {Download Squad}
Oct 14th 2009 10:29AM Because the site is called Download Squad, not frequently-updated-applications squad.
WinExt is a neat application that many people will find useful even if it has a few bugs. And we've never covered it before on the site so I wanted to let people know about it after I first learned about it.
It doesn't really matter if it hasn't been updated in a while. Some of the best applications around are oldies but goodies.
