Tunisian pilot who prayed while crash landing a plane gets 10 years in jail {Gadling}

Mar 28th 2009 9:26PM Who told you this stuff happens? Educate yourself and get your facts straight, the things you are saying are not allowed in Islam and if someone who is muslim did something like this, they are not following what their religion permits. Seriously, don't just throw around words, its offensive.

Mar 28th 2009 9:19PM We're not victimizing ourselves. Reality is that there is worldwide islamophobia and unfortunately muslims are viewed as terrorists before considered anything else. A person can't say the word Allah or jihad without having someone question our use of the words. FYI: that is the "real world", I don't know what world you think we're living in.

8-Year-Old Girl Married Off to 47-Year-Old Man {Lemondrop}

Mar 1st 2009 11:32PM This story is really sad and something like this should NEVER happen. I am really disturbed by it. But it is wrong to believe that this is common practice in the middle east. I'm sure it happens, but not in the prevalance that the author speaks of. It is very very rare. Also, just because the girl's mother wasn't given the same rights as the father, this doesn't mean that ALL mothers in Saudi Arabia don't have rights. It is unethical for journalists to make bold statements like this without having actually researched this. I'm sick and tired of having people judging ALL of the middle east because of an incident like this, and conclude that middle eastern people find this normal and think its okay. They don't!! This father or any other person who would do this to their own child is sick! I've lived in Saudi before, and I know many women who live there now and they are content with their lives there and DO NOT feel oppressed or degraded. Why do people always feel sorry for women living there, as if we are incapable of feeling for ourselves. We don't need people to tell us how to feel.
