Cash for Clunkers ends the rally in auto retailers {BloggingStocks}

Aug 24th 2009 5:24PM While auto dealers saw an uptick in sales from the cash for clunkers sales, what impact will a possible late payment from the government have on their bottom line? I still fail to see how this is really helping the US economy when several dealers around the country reported that they were selling mostly foreign cars. Aren't we making the Big 3 more obsolete through cash for clunkers?

Weight of the Nation - Obesity Conference Seeks to Solve Crisis {That's Fit}

Jul 29th 2009 4:55PM Taxing the fat sounds extreme and discriminatory. What would be more constructive is to take a close look at how changes in public policies can lead to more active lifestyles and better eating habits. Don't tax fat people because they are fat, tax the processed and sugary foods that are making them fat, and subsidize the cost of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains. This video has some great perspectives from the Onion and the New Yorker.

Kathleen Sebelius: Childhood Obesity Shortening Lives for This Generation {Politics Daily}

Jul 29th 2009 4:46PM I agree with Cat - citizens and the government need to work together to find better lifestyle choices and address the obesity epidemic. Because the government is the safety net, they end up footing the bill for most of the medical costs related to obesity. This video has some eye-opening stats about the cost of lost productivity from obesity.

Lawsuit madness: The airline lost his Xbox! {WalletPop}

Mar 20th 2009 2:27PM This guy seems like an idiot for packing his Xbox in checked luggage, and even more so for suing for $1,000,000. It sucks that he lost his Xbox, but he was tempting fate by making poor decisions. I'm amazed that more luggage isn't lost or stolen given the sheer volume of bags that are processed daily. This video has some great clips from reporters working along with baggage handlers, to showing what happens to your bag when it disappears into the ether - (hint: it resurfaces in Alabama) http://www.newsy.com/videos/lost_in_transportation/

42 million bags mishandled, more than 1 million lost for good {Gadling}

Mar 20th 2009 1:48PM Lost luggage is can be very annoying and expensive, but it could also be avoidable if the airlines provided handlers with enough time to do their jobs. I have no idea how they unload and sort a plane and get my bag across the airport and back onto the right plane in 45 minutes. Most businesses are not even close to that efficient. This clip has more content, and shows what happens to your luggage when it never comes back to you: http://www.newsy.com/videos/lost_in_transportation/

US gov't: Americans should avoid Mexican hookers {Gadling}

Feb 25th 2009 1:01PM Definitely reconsidering my spring trip to Cancun.Might go for a stay-cation instead, even though that sounds kind of depressing. I don't frequent any areas of ill repute, but still scary that you might get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Is it worth the risk? According to this Newsy story colleges in Arizona are telling their students to stay away from Mexico during spring break http://www.newsy.com/videos/arming_against_drug_violence/
