Jun 11th 2012 4:01AM One of the best places to observe the night sky is from the Mt. Lemmon Sky Center in Tucson, Arizona, where visitors are able to look through a 32 inch (large) pro-level telescope, and get a guided tour of the sky by a professional astronomer/astrophotographer... a popular thing to do in when visiting Tucson. Geared for all ages 7 to 70 it's a treat! Check their website and schedule, and pick a nice night when the Moon is not too bright that way you can see the Moon for a while and then, head to the planets and the stars on your guided tour. We did this activity - and it was excellent, and I have great astronomy equipment myself. So, if your a novice, or a pro - there's fun for all!

The singing of the Star Spandgled Banner has become a "tradition" in sports and it is fitting that for a "moment" the audience can take stock in their (our) national pride. It's a good thing. On Christina Aguilar's performance. It was "pretty poor" both in musical performance of the song - unnecessary "vocal flutter" that broke the natural rhythm of the tune... and of course... she needed to "practice, practice, practice" as her "necessary vocal coach might have chided her". In the future she should use Obama's teleprompter... to get the words right. There ya go!

Aug 13th 2010 3:12PM I think everyone should stop using the "N" word... period. Blacks
and whites alike. Some blacks use it in an endearing way as - cute
street talk they think - but it really demeans everyone of the black
race. What's the matter with just saying, "Yo Bro... how ya doin' "
instead of the "n" word in those seemingly "light" situations?
Since blacks do it - and laugh about it - then, immediately go to
calling white's racist that use it - even in dark street talk - it would serve the "better purpose" of us all to just eradicate the word from the
dictionary and our common use - among people of all races. Remember Jesus said, "Love one another - as I have loved you." Let that be the guideline to follow... for people of all races. And, while doing so... the black folks can eliminate the words "cracker" and/or "Whitey" from their vocabulary as well - commonly in use as a slur to whites. Fact is - we all have to grow up... and be more mature and try to teach our kids to be "better'n'different" - and a little kinder to each other in the mix.
This Day in Geek History -- Star Trek Fans Name Space Shuttle Enterprise {Asylum}
Aug 13th 2010 12:22AM The Space Shuttle Enterprise can be seen at the Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian Instituion, located near Dulles International Airport in Chantilly, VA. (15 or so miles southwest of D.C.) The article should have put this information in so that visitors to Wash. D.C., and VA., could put it on their itinerary. It's a great new museum complex and well worth a visit. Prepare to spend a few hours there... there's lots to see, including the SR71 Blackbird (spyplane), that broke several air speed records still held today, and the famous Enola Gay B-29 Bomber used to drop the first Atomic bomb. All on the cutting edge of history in their time.

I guess the next time Arod gets up against him Arod will just have to park a ball into the center field seats so that he might not have to cross the mound on his way back to first base... if he only got a single. This may have been some "old school" rule from the 40s or 50s... but, I think Braden over-reacted BIG TIME and actually embarrassed himself in the mix. Yo! She'll have a great time doing the shows about her beautiful state which will only help tourism to Alaska... get her face on TV more and become better known to the public. Make some $$$ in the mix... strengthen her resume in the balance... and then, with a more positive stature, and a larger following to encourage her - maybe throw her hat into the ring as a Presidential or VP candidate for the Republican Party in 2012. The Republicans by then, will have won back the House and maybe the Senate and should be able to send Obama-nation packing back to South Chicago and Rev. Wrights congregation to boot! I'll be happy to put them on any mail going out with bills, or letters to friends... and I hope they notice the picture on the stamp... and "think" for a moment about a wonderful woman who gave her life - to service - for others, doing God's work with her hands. And, who knows maybe the stamps will "inspire" others to look up... to her... and see something, someone even more powerful: Her Boss! God Bless... a beautiful lady. I saw her once the day she opened her Sister's of Charity house in Newark, N.J. around 1975. A very little lady - who could lift so much, pain, loneliness, discomfort from the shoulders and hearts of many in need. Aha! I have seen a "saint!"
Should America Be English-Only -- or Speak More Than One Language? {Lemondrop}
Jan 26th 2010 4:20PM Americans should be an English only language country. Since we have so many diverse cultures in the mix... (and most other countries do not), it is not necessary to pick one among them for our "second' language - though there probably enough latinos & Mexicans to warrant Spanish as #2. Sadly, our education system is in disarray - and our "poor kids" cannot even master English properly - so, that would be the biggest reason to focus on English... for communication skills needed to operate in the corporate world. We really should focus more on "math" needs also since our students are falling behind other countries... like China and India who are putting out more engineers. In time... this will "tip the scales" and world-power, economic and possibly military will shift to Asia. Let's not let that happen - or else... we'll be #2 or #3... and "nobody" wants to see that.
