Port Orange HOA Tells Residents Yard Statues Aren't Allowed {AOL Real Estate}
Apr 5th 2013 9:50PM Sorry, I disagree with nearly all of you!
When you move into this type of community you know there are rules. I doubt anyone was concerned when it was small birds near the house, or a garden gnome. That angel monstrosity probably set the neighbors and association off. She lights it up at night, which makes it even worse! It makes her front yard look like a church!
If you don't want to follow the rules, don't move into a community with HOA guidelines and requirements! Simple as that.
I sympathize with her, I do understand. I lost my husband of 29 years. But, I would not want that statue in my neighborhood. It isn't the same as a garden decoration.
12 Detroit Houses Demolished Accidentally, Including Couple's Newly Bought Home {AOL Real Estate}
Jan 12th 2013 6:33PM The boards were going to be used to board it up, so vandals couldn't get in, and to protect it from winter weather damage.
Too bad they couldn't keep the property, it will be worth more than 500.
California Law Bans Landlords From Requiring Declawed, 'Devoiced' Pets {AOL Real Estate}
Oct 13th 2012 2:10PM What is? Either surgery is cruel to a pet. Look up just what it entails. It isn't like cutting toenails.
Home owners can still forbid pets.
Homeowners Joel and Melissa Dodge of Washington Feel Stranded by New Off-Ramp Next Door {AOL Real Estate}
Sep 29th 2012 11:13PM How convenient for them. Their house is already worth less than they owe, so now they are looking for a way out. They had to have known the ramp was coming. Any Realtor would have told them. If not, take it up with him or her. It would have to be disclosed.
Homeowners Joel and Melissa Dodge of Washington Feel Stranded by New Off-Ramp Next Door {AOL Real Estate}
Sep 29th 2012 5:17PM I know of several people who had this happen to them. BUT, they knew when they bought that the neighboring land was to be used for a highway at some time in the future. I don't believe they bought their home believing that was empty land behind them forever. After all, there was already a highway behind them.
My one house has an empty lot behind it. BUT, I have the plans already approved by the city for condos there. I bought knowing that someday my backyard will not be private, and my view of the mountains will be impaired.
It looks like they have a larger, and more private, than usual front yard. Use that.
Trouble Blooms: Condo Board Sues Resident Over Flowers {AOL Real Estate}
Mar 20th 2012 2:54PM If this "common" area of the complex, then why doesn't the board just hire someone to tear them out? If it isn't her property, why are they waiting for her to agree? It is a silly idea to remove them, but when you move into a condo you know you have rules and regulations. Don't want any, don't move into a community with a home owners association either.
Short Sales That Are Long on Value {AOL Real Estate}
Mar 3rd 2012 12:41PM Last year, while looking for a home in a new town, most of the houses for sale were short sales. I asked my Realtor (who has been in business a long, long time) if she had ever had a successful short sale. She said "No." So, I told her not to show them to us. I needed to find a house to purchase during that trip to town. I couldn't wait around months to hear if my offer was accepted, as was the case when my niece bought a short sale. The short sales prices kept being lowered, but the offers were not accepted, and I later saw the houses up for auction, where they did bring more than the lowest short sale listing price.
I actually bought the ONLY house in my price range that was, as my Realtor called it, a "happy sale," where the owner was voluntarily selling.
Renaming Your Rescue Dog {Pawnation OLD}
Sep 4th 2011 12:01PM I don't believe that is a "major" reason. I believe some people are using that as an excuse for an easy way out. People have always taken their pets to shelters when they tired of them, or found they weren't as easy to care for as they thought. Actually, for any reason, or even no reason at all. Before this recession there were as many, if not more, pets surrendered by the owner.
Renaming Your Rescue Dog {Pawnation OLD}
Sep 4th 2011 11:57AM I didn't see the video, but no one should let a dog or cat play with things like blinds or yarn. If they do it when you see, and it may be cute, they will do it when you are away, and can strangle themselves. My blinds are between the glass in my French doors and window in my kitchen door. No dusting them either!
Renaming Your Rescue Dog {Pawnation OLD}
Sep 3rd 2011 11:46PM You were nice that I would have been! I wouldn't rename my pet because of what someone else thought. My brother had a black German Shep. named Shadow. He was black, like a shadow. Simple as that!
