At one time in my life, I worked for USDA and the big guys aren't going to tell you that both algae and switchgrass are better sources of ethanol than corn. But Archer-Daniels-Midland and other corporate ag don't control algae and switchgrass marketing.

From the first days when man selectively let a certain bull breed a certain cow or found he could put two superior plants side by side and get an even better plant from their seed, man has been manipulating genetics. All this is doing is speeding up a process that may take thousands of years. And most of the people whining on this comment page have little qualms about genetic manipulation when it comes to stem cells.

It's all done for the money and Reggie Bush brought more money to USC than every cymbal player in the orchestra or every art student in a showing. I don't agree with it but that's the way it is. And as long as that alumni money and tv money comes in, the university will always turn a blind eye. Do you honestly think that anybody would have ever heard of Tuscaloosa, Alabama without football?

Aug 30th 2010 2:45PM I remember from Preventative Veterinary Medicine back in school that when you have e.coli problems, you look for meat handlers that don't wash up or at the feedlot for a worker using the feedbins for a latrine. Infer from that what you will. All yopu have to do to render e. coli inactive is COOK the meat, not eat it while it is still bloody.

Aug 30th 2010 2:38PM I have cattle. Ocassionally one will crawl the fence and take a dump in the yard. Or either my cattle will get in the neighbor's yard or his in mine. We are ADULTS and realize that this occasionally happens. You sound like the type of person that would call animal control rather than call the neighbor and tell him in stock was out. Do us a favor and move back to town.
