Talking travel with Paul Theroux (Part 2) {Gadling}

Aug 28th 2009 5:45PM I've tried to get an answer to this matter, but haven't yet. Years ago, on National Public Radio, Theroux appeared before a college audience--and that of national radio--to discuss his works, particularly a trip, by kayak, from Australia to island nations in Polynesia. He professed to land on island shores, to be greeted by royalty etc. Talk of the Nation host Ray Suarez asked Theroux how he was able to travel without incident and meet dignitaries so easily, the reply being "I made it up." He was so cavalier about it, and it came so early in the broadcast that nothing was made of it. Mr. White: do you think this is good? I wouldn't read anything by Theroux after his admission, but have since noted that others have done the same, e.g., Myra Sorvino in her autobiography. To me, it's shameful. To others, apparently Theroux, it's de rigeur.

Matt Millen Breaks His Silence, Says Watching Detroit Lions Go 0-16 'Was Brutal' {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Jan 4th 2009 8:58AM I should have added this to an earlier email: if Matt Millen is part of the Super Bowl broadcast, I will zap the sound. It's almost as if NBC has become William Clay Ford--do we have to boycott NBC (if only by muting the sound) to make a point?

Matt Millen Breaks His Silence, Says Watching Detroit Lions Go 0-16 'Was Brutal' {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Jan 4th 2009 8:47AM While most seem to think Millen's presence as an analyst is maddening, it has to be wondered what network thinking was that sat him on that panel. It must be the kind of rationale that William Clay Ford had that made MM the GM. To get MM to say something about the Lions should have been enough. He doesn't need to be rewarded for his inadequacies any longer--it's bad enough he's still being paid.
