Adam Welch's Exploding Glass Table 'a Total Mystery,' He Says {AOL Real Estate}
Aug 27th 2012 5:07PM It is a century old technique that has been forgotten that releases the stresses after the casting of the glass. Bean counters and lawyers have shoved the slow cooling technique into oblivion to increase productivity, save bucks and increase profits. Yes, it takes days to cool the glass so there are no residual stresses in the material. Tempered glass would work but it costs more.

Aug 27th 2012 5:03PM Typical of tempered glass. It will take so much banging without breaking and then one day, a feather drops on it and it shatters into shotgun pepper.

No Frills Airline: 1970s Sitcom Predicts The Future Of Air Travel {Gadling}
Apr 28th 2012 1:17PM A Chinese airline has ordered a gaggle of Airbus liners with poles instead of seats. The passengers travel standing up. You can pack 3 times as many bodies that way. Profit!

A light sleeper's lament: six things you shouldn't do in a hotel {Gadling}
Jan 14th 2012 2:34PM It all comes down to the common attitude of the new rich, or borrower living off a credit line. They pay for the service with money they have not earned yet (freebie!) and want to stretch it as far as possible. Trashing the place, the bus, the rented car, the limo or the airplane is part of their game. Some companies do charge the cleanup to the clients' credit card, but it is rare. This is what you get for democratizing amenities to trash.
The Minor Threat: Age-Restricted Communities Evicting Children {AOL Real Estate}
Jan 6th 2012 4:03PM Whatever happened to the equal housing laws, and the anti age discrimation laws and the just plain antiracist laws? Now we have rules that violate and preempt equality laws? Lawyers run this place and make a living off conflicting rules. As Mark Twain used to say: "First kill all the lawyers".
'Cloud' Twin Towers: Design Insults 9/11 Victims, Critics Say {AOL Real Estate}
Dec 13th 2011 12:32AM Does this mean that any twin tower setup becomes a deliberate and vicious attack on the 9-11 victims? Methinks that this victimish attitude is going a bit far. Of course, I'm going to be labeled as insensitive and uncaring, but we have a situation not unlike the one of Israel and its friendly Arab neigbours who classify anything Israel does as warmongering and racist.
