T-Mobile gives reps troubleshooting tips for Nexus One's 3G issues {Engadget}
Jan 12th 2010 7:47PM Do not mention that the phone cannot be returned if they 'mistakenly' took the engraving option and failed to notice the fine print in their excitement to get their uber nexus one. Do not call the customer a 'sucker'.
If said customer get irate try to console them, and do not hang up on them if at all possible. Remember, we pay you to be yelled at. Feel free to laugh about it with your cube buddies afterward, but not during the call.
Nexus One review {Engadget}
Jan 9th 2010 7:23PM As a new owner of the Nexus, I am calling "Shenanigans" on this review! There is currently a LOT of COMPLAINTS in Google Support Forum due to widespread CONNECTIVITY PROBLEMS. 3G drops out to Edge or no 3G at all (in major metropolis, such as Nashville where I am!) T Mob, Google and HTC are playing "not my fault" or otherwise SILENT (eerily similar to Apple 3G launch - with a similar 3G connectivity issue). Supposedly Jan 11th there is to be an OTA patch that fixes it...but who REALLY knows. The clock is running on the 15 day Full Refund Return. This is NOT a "Happy Launch" for many, many customers ... myself included. sigh. Here's the link to the GOOGLE SUPPORT FORUM: http://bit.ly/8G4eXp

Jan 9th 2010 1:28AM @Plazmic Flame Part of my decision to go with the NEXUS on T Mob was that they are rolling out HSDPA+ (21Mbs !) It's the next new thing in connect speeds until it gets overtaken by LTE/4G which is AT LEAST a year away (2011 and beyond)... http://bit.ly/4DKWwP

Jan 9th 2010 1:18AM @cyclepipe Second that plea for help. It's early (Day 2), here's hoping we get that Google Love soon!

Jan 9th 2010 1:16AM @zenshadow oops, forgot to mention that I was talking to HTC (the CS number is 1-888-216-4736 by the way).

Jan 9th 2010 1:10AM @Heruraha ha ha... while I was on the phone talking to the polite gentleman/kid that was walking me thru the handbook of "handling everything that can possibly go wrong", I asked him if he was getting a lot of calls on this from other Nexus owners (as opposed to Lexus owners, lol ... but I digress). He said, no I was the 1st caller with this problem. I didn't call him an outright liar, but then I did point out that a LOT of people over at google support forum were reporting this as a major problem. He suggested we wipe the phone to Factory Settings. I politely declined the offer for now figuring it wouldn't make any difference (since it came out of the box with no 3G) ... he offered to 'escalate it upstairs'... and took my email down. I'm currently waiting to hear from that mysterious 'upstairs'. My goal being to lodge the complaint well before the 15 day deadline (the email should serve as 'proof' of that in regards to me returning it for a full refund if need be). I suggest everyone else with this issue to do the same - at least get it on record before the 15 days are up! Not sure if going RMA right now will help - since there may just be a bad batch of antennas or something and you might just get another bad out of the batch! Around day 13, however, you might want to go that route or demand that refund IMHO if a solution hasn't been announced. Hopefully Google will show better customer service than Apple when they had a similar launch problem with their iPhone 3G. (which I believe was solved via a software patch, but Apple was notably SILENT on the issue).

Jan 9th 2010 12:59AM @markzip As the article we are commenting on stated: "In an interview today at All Things D here at CES, Walt Mossberg mentioned the support problems to which Andy Rubin replied "we have to get better at customer service"
Yeah, Andy... welcome to the real world of retail sales!

Jan 9th 2010 12:55AM @surfernerd6987 Sigh, that is NOT a promising development, but I appreciate your reply! I still cannot imagine that all the G1's and other HTC phones out there in Nashville are not getting 3G - there would be breadcrumbs of posts around complaining about it, right? But I am not experiencing the issue in the way other's are stating (goes from 3G to Edge and back again, lol) ... No, I am unable to get 3G AT ALL. Which does make me worry that I am in 'the sticks' as far as that goes (but even if I was in NY or something - there is still the issue of the 3G to Edge bounces).
Why can't I have my cake ( inexpensive service from TMo and Super Phone Nexus) and eat it too? grr. I'm thinking my backup plan is to get the Verizon version of NEXUS (or a Verizon SIM?) once it gets released.

Jan 9th 2010 12:39AM Here in Nashville (technically the "sticks", but still a major metropolis) I have YET to get 3G (even though I am in the Deep Red on the Data Coverage Map, which is a good thing). Tomorrow I will take My Nexus out around town to see if I can get 3G at anytime (maybe I am in a dead zone and the map doesn't know it). But there are a LOT of people yelling on the Google Support page - so it's more than likely something that needs a patch or firmware upgrade or something. I must say on WiFi the NEXUS is a dream to use! If I can get 3G away from the house, I'd be o.k. with it, cause I will use WiFi at all times anyway around the house - which is also my workplace). I've lodged a complaint with HTC to insure I can return it for a full refund if the problem turns out to be "not correctible". Waiting to see, monitoring the forums - hoping it all works out!
