How HDR Photo Editing Can Ruin Your Travel Photos {Gadling}

Jun 5th 2013 11:03PM I've seen a few HDR images that I like -- very few -- among the many that I've seen. IMO, most of those who do HDR don't know when to stop. Nothing exceeds like excess.

Flight Attendant Humiliates Breast-Pumping Mom {Gadling}

Apr 30th 2013 10:19PM If Ms. Brahos used the device on previous legs of the same trip and all of the legs were on the same airline, then either (a) there is an inconsistency in the application of the rule or (b) the flight attendant was stating a policy which is inconsistent with the airline's policy.

However, if the other legs of the trip were on different airline(s), then Ms. Brahos does not have a legitimate gripe and should have ascertained what that partcular airline's policy is.

Should Seniors Pay More For National Parks? {Gadling}

Naughty Place Names You Never Noticed In Your Atlas {Gadling}

Feb 18th 2013 3:00AM Have you ever thought that the origins of at least some of these place names is not sexual? It might not be a matter of what they are thinking, but rather the thinking of those who automatically assume a sexual connotation. For example intercourse can also refer to nonsexual interaction. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/intercourse

How To Not Look Like A Tourist In Santa Fe {Gadling}

Sep 6th 2012 1:47AM I take it that New Mexicans spell the dish the same as the country, not "chili" as does the rest of the country.

Travelers Want To Be More Eco-Friendly, Says TripAdvisor Survey, But Hotels Need To Do More {Gadling}

Apr 23rd 2012 12:55AM Hotel chains need to need to make sure that their policies are followed by their staff. Too many times my wife and I have indicated in the manner specified in a hotel's policy that we do not want new bathroom linens (towels, etc), only to have housekeeping provide a new set and remove the old set. Bringing it to management's attention does no good.

American Airlines to cut jobs, work remaining force harder {Gadling}

Feb 2nd 2012 12:04AM It is quite evident that some of the commentators are trolls using this is as an excuse to spew their political beliefs.

Several airlines, when they have filed bankruptcy in the past, have used it as a tool to void union contracts. American Airlines should look at using its bankruptcy filing to ascertain whether said action would help or hurt its future. However, the main reason that American and other legacy airlines are hurting is that a lot of people are flying using airlines whereby they are socked with fees.

Southwest Airlines, which by the way is unionized, does not charge for any checked luggage.

Jet Blue does not charge for the first checked luggage.

Because of their policies on checked luggage, I will book any flight I take with either Southwest Airlines or Jet Blue, unless neither flies to my destination (which hasn't happened yet). I'm by no means alone in avoiding the legacy airlines because of their fees.

If the legacy airlines want to be profitable, they should emulate either Southwest's or Jet Blue's checked luggage policy. If they stick to their current policies, I won't shed a tear if any of them go belly up. Another airline will just take the place of one that goes out of business.

The "surfer almost swallowed by whale" video explained {Gadling}

Nov 5th 2011 8:05PM Before I would characterize this as "almost swallowed by whale", I would want to know whether the camera lens was long enough to have compacted the apparent distance between the surfer and the whale.

Colonial Williamsburg: Made in America {Gadling}

Jul 10th 2011 12:23AM This rant has nothing to do with the story about Williamsburg. It's sole function appears to be to lure people to other websites. Why has it not been deleted?

Smithsonian in National Latino Musuem controversy {Gadling}

Apr 23rd 2011 11:55PM RE: "This reasoning would hold water if the other museums hadn't been established already, but it seems a bit late in the day to be bringing forth this argument now."

Better late than never.

Every ethnic group has contributed, regardless of whether that group comes under the category of minority. If the Smithsonian wants to show the contributions and culture of any minorities, let it, instead, convert the African American Museum to one museum for ethnic groups, with a wing for each group. Enough is enough.
