Oceania cruise ship outruns pirate ship {Gadling}

Dec 1st 2008 6:56PM India has been the only nation to use force with force

Yeah, but they ended up using force against a fishing trawler, not the "pirate mother ship" they thought. Good going, India.

In any case, I have yet to see concrete proof that the pirates are "animals." The description of the hostages says they were confined and yelled at --- big freakin' deal!

Nov 26th 2008 4:37PM In a previous job our company was running contract and invoice fraud on one of our clients to the tune of $15,000/month. Imagine the egg on my face when I, by accident, sent a tell-all email - intended for one of my colleagues - to the client's brand manager! LOL!

(BTW - don't get all preachy and judgmental to anyone reading this, the whole situation was eventually sorted out and we had to pay back the money.)

While traveling w/ my partner of six years from Seattle to Las Vegas To Celebrate Christmas w/ my Mom and youngest sister, (they moved to Nevada from Wisconsin six-months prior) In 1996, my other siblings along w/ their spouse and children were all making the journey from WI to Las Vegas. Our Christmas present to our Mom was a surprise to have all her children and grandchildren show up at her door bright and early Christmas morning. Our youngest sister who moved to Las Vegas, with her 4 year old Daughter 2 months after Mom left Wisconsin herself. (Moms baby girl missed her so much she followed mom, LoL!)
Anyways that Thanksgiving was the first holiday Our mom, had been away from her family (kids, and their spouses and, grandkids) ever. Our youngest Sister Kristi, told me that the whole week of Thanksgiving Mom would break down and cry, and question her decison to Leave Wisconsin with the man she was dating after our parents were divorced after 25 years of marriage. (You see Mom's boyfriend and our Dad were all friends from highschool, And Dad was having a hard time letting go, making it very difficult for Mom to have a chance to be happy and start new.) Don't get me wrong my parents loved each other very much, yet to many let downs, broken promises and shattered dreams along w/ infidelities on our Dads part, Mom finally got a divorce from Dad, Mom could no longer shove all the years of hurt, broken promises of dad saying he's sorry, It will never happen again, I'm going to be a ew man and a better husband and father, watch and see. Mom no longer was in Love w/ our dad. Since all of us kids were adults Mom did not have to stay w/ him for us kids sake any longer. To be truthful we were all quite shocked that mom actually went through w/ it after all these years. (we urged her to get a divorce when we were all teenagers)
So back to Christmas morning 1996, It's 6:30 am and we all took taxi's from our hotel and we are just outside mom's house, (Here is the neatest thing, Our only brother came up w/ this great idea of Kristi, telling Mom, that she hired a Santa Claus to come bright and early Christmas morning and wake up Our niece (Kristi's daughter) to deliver all their Christmas presents) Our brother went to his girlfriends mother who was a pro w/ a sewing machine and worked out a plan for us kids to all chip in for the fabric and materials, plus $ 175.00 for her time. She Made eleven Santa Claus suits, plus a Santa sweater for our dog, Nagel who traveled w/ us, every vacation we made.
Imagine this, TWELVE santa's on our moms doorstep, ringing the doorbell all saying "HO HO HO, MERRY CHRISTMAS", When Our Mom opened the door that wonderful christmas morning, Thank goodness her boyfriend was standing directly behind her because mom nearly passed out, with tears of joy, along with the best shock of her life. Back to the objective of my most memorable story and what I lost that trip to Las Vegas, Christmas morning, 1996. When we were all leaving the hotels to head to moms house that morning. My sister snagged her santa suit on the door leaving the hotel, my sister became all frazzled and upset. My girlfriend Shel, suggested I ride w/ my niece and nephew in one taxi, while she ran into the gift store to purchase a needle and thread for an emergency fix, and they would take another taxi, shortly behind us. We all carried santa toy (gift) bags just like santa, So we could all hand out our gifts for whom we made or purchased. My youngest niece noticed a Teddy Bear in my Santa bag (It was not wrapped), she wanted to hold it until we got to Grandma's house. She asked if It was for her I explained no It's for Aunt Shel, Mean while her brother piped up and said Aunt Shel Isn't going to like that Bear for Christmas, a nintendo would be better! (LOL), My niece said if Aunt Shel doesn't like it I will love It!, Aunt Sheri. I said "Oh ,she will like it watch and see !", besides it is a very special bear, "It's a Benny Bear!", they both questioned "What is that.", I told them you will see how special it is when Aunt Shel gets it, but promise me you won't tell her that you know she is getting a teddy bear for Christmas, We all crossed our hearts. So we all great mom with hugs tears laughter, then mom made her christmas morning breakfest, What a spread of food!, It is always gun to watch and see all the kids so antsy about presents from Santa, after breakfest and the dishes done, mom popped in her favorite Christmas cd, And It was Present time, "WOO-HOO, YIPPY", It was my turn too hand out my gifts, the last gift I was handing out was Shel's Benny Bear. The neatest and very special surprise about the Benny Bear, Is It's a Ben Bridge Jewlers Bear, and right beneath the bow o the bears neck is a zipper, ( hidden) Your suppose to point it out to your loved one and let them get a very special, unexpected present. I decided in October of that year I was going to buy Shel a very beautiful, commitment ring, This was not easy to pull off, so a friend of mine and myself from work would, Put in requests to leave work early (while our spouses believed we were at work), So she had no clue, no idea what my special gift to her that year would be.
After looking and searching for over a month I found the ring, It was gorgeous, Shel does nt like rings were the gems stick out, like most wedding rings w/ the diamond mounted atop. This ring was like an antique style gold ring w, the most beautiful emerald ( her birthstone), flush with the ring, and arund the emerald arund each band that goes around each side of your finger were 36 little diamonds, in the form and shape of X's and O's (you know a symbol for hugs and kisses) I go to pull it out of my santa bag and it's empty, come to find out it was left in the taxi, Great news, 8 hours later it was turned in to the cab company, and what was even neater, A Santa cab driver hand delivered it to Shel. However she was not impressed like my nephew said, and my niece said she would keep it forever. I said remember I told you it is a very special bear, they asked how, Shel was being frumpy, cuz all I got here was this little teddy bear. I walked over to her, knelt down on one knee and said, Sweetie, This bear is so very secial and you will never forget It, I took her hand in mine and lead it to the zipper, she had a puzzled look on her face as I removed my hand and let her start to unzip it as I had tears of excitement, joy, and nervousness running down my checks, she gave me an even more puzzled look, until she opened it, and pulled out a white ring box, Then Shel start to have the tears a flowing, before she opened the box she grabbed me and said I'm so sorry I was acting ungrateful, I spoke, "SHH, you still do not know what it is, open sweetheart!"
Shel opened it ad Gasped, " OH MY GOD!", then the tears were flowing a river in between sobs and saying this is the most beautiful gift in my whole life, Thank-you! Shel I said, "You are the most beautiful gift in my whole life!,and I love you Yesterday, today, and forever, and most of all the moment my eyes met yours.", we both stood up and hugged, our niece said, Aunt Sheri, can I have the teddy bear now?, My sister spoke up and said, "No sweetie that's Aunt Shel's favorite new Teddy."

With all the morning excitement, Alyssa forgot the Benny Bear in our taxi as she rushed out with excitement and glee to see Grandma on Christmas Morning, 1996. Thank goodness my special ear was turned in after we called the dispatcher for the cab company, and it was found and returned to us, from our own special Taxi Santa!!! (Note: so very sorry, my spell checker is not working thank-you)

SHERI - can you please bullet-point the above? It's a little wordy to read the whole thing. Thanks!
