Nov 11th 2008 11:49AM It was in the 80's when Cindy Lauper was big and I was quite young. I had just gotten engaged and my first "meet the inlaws" event was a family wedding. I chose a dark blue and multi colored polka dot sleeveless dress with layers of multi colored crinoline underneath to make the skirt twirl as I wore it with dark blue tights, slouch socks and red granny heeled mid calf lace up boots. (the kind with the cut outs in the feet? Remember those?). I thought I looked hot but after meeting my intended's 76 year old grandmother, she pulled him aside saying; "Is she going to change before the wedding?" He said; "No why?" Reponse; (and I swear this is true); "She's a very pretty girl, but what about her mind? Only the crazy one's dress like that."
Looking back, I deeply feel that anything one did regarding fashion in the 80's didn't count. We must have all lost our minds to buy into such awfulness.
