Five things (most) women should pack when traveling to a foreign country {Gadling}
Aug 8th 2011 8:05PM Try taking mace through security. I'd love to be there to see what happens, as long as I get through before you.
Peanut Allergy Protest a 'Misunderstanding,' Florida School District Says {ParentDish}
Mar 23rd 2011 5:10PM Stupid question--when did peanut allergies start? I grew up in the 60's and 70's, and I never heard of anyone having a peanut allergy. No one ever got sick from eating the food in any of my schools.
Metrodome Roof Repairs Could Impact Vikings' 2011 Schedule {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Jan 20th 2011 6:59PM I don't doubt that Minnesotans will repair or replace the dome in record time. Just like they replaced that bridge. By contrast, in 8 months will be the 10th anniversary of 9-11. What's going to be at Ground Zero--a work in progress rather than a shiny symbol of American recovery. Look how slowly it's taking to rebuild. New York has lost the building spirit that once erected the Empire State Building in just over a year. Minnesota has it.
America's 'Ugliest Airports' Named in Survey {AOL Travel News}
Jan 2nd 2011 11:53AM Whoever said JFK is ugly hasn't been through American Airlines Terminal 8, which was opened in 2008. It has a vaulted ceiling, large windows with great views of your winged means of conveyance, new shops and AA murals & motifs in the floor & walls. I'll admit LGA is cramped & ugly. They even have to have auxilliary AC units in the concourse beacuse the existing AC system is inadequate. For another beautiful airport, come to Raleigh-Durham International Airport. It has a brand-new Terminal 2 full of shops, a 20-lane security area and power ports at most seats for all the gadgets we now bring along.
Celebrity Baby Bump Bonanza! {Stylelist (Main)}
Nov 19th 2010 7:08PM Guess this means that Pink will give up singing, just like the Spice Girls did. They broke up when two of their members became pregnant.
Mom a Poor Reader? That Could Hurt Her Kid's Success, Study Shows {ParentDish}
Oct 26th 2010 11:12PM You're right. Why didn't they mention Dad? Most of these "studies" and media perception tend to downplay Dad at every turn. Dad is usually the "deadbeat sperm donor", and Mom is usually the "heroic superwoman".
100 Worst Songs Ever -- Part Five of Five {AOL Radio Blog}
Sep 11th 2010 7:35AM "Living Inside Myself" by Gino Vanelli. I remember that some DJ made a joke about it, saying "I was once trapped inside my own pancreas"
Confessions of a Bitter-Ender: In Praise of Movie End Credits {Moviefone Blog}
Aug 8th 2010 11:13AM I stick around for the full credits because I feel that everyone involved in the film should get their due, there is often a good music suite over the end credits, I want to know who played so-and-so, and there are sometimes surprises. Such as in "The Naked Gun" when actors were listed by their lines rather than their character's name or description. Or remember the dancing characters at the end of "Madagascar"? Nowadays, when the film makes it to TV, they scroll the credits so fast (or compress it to one part of the screen) that they're impossible to read.
Exclusive: Olympic Star Cullen Jones Saving Lives by Teaching Black and Latino Kids to Swim {BV Black Spin}
Jul 5th 2010 6:58AM I'm an AA male, and I've been taking swimming lessons for just over a year now at age 45. I can do freestyle, backstroke and am working on the butterfly. Something very heartening is that I'm seeing Black families bringing their 2-5 year old sons & daughters in for swimming lessons right alongside the White kids & being treated no differently.
Opinion: Careful, Son, Your Helping Hand Could End Up in Cuffs {ParentDish}
Jun 17th 2010 5:20PM Not to mention damage to reputation. For a man, just the accusation is destructive enough. Even if a man is found innocent & all charges dropped, people in the neighborhood will look at him funny & whisper "Don't go near him".
