Postal strike row will kill Royal Mail {Walletpop UK}

Oct 19th 2009 8:31AM excellent post. i can't believe they're striking (again) and i can certainly say that i personally have found alternative ways to send items that do not involve the post, whether that be via email, scanned documents and other couriers. just today i paid extra on amazon for guaranteed delivery because it was worth a few extra quid to ensure my order arrives.

hopefully, should they deign to return to work at some point, all the mail i am waiting to receive finally finds its way to me and doesn't rot in some warehouse somewhere.

the employees may well have a valid reason for their strike (i don't know), though from this public person's perspective, they are shooting themselves in the foot and deserve any revenue shortfall that they experience.

Are you worried about your child's online safety? {Parentdish - UK}

Oct 13th 2009 11:50AM My wife and I just had a baby and both of us work for internet companies, so we know about all the stuff that's out there. It'll be a while before our son is on the net, but we've talked about this issue. We'll definitely be using a program to limit the number and types of sites he can visit.

However, the most important thing we'll do is explain how to use the web and why its important to be careful, what kinds of information to share / not share, etc. It's true that the world is a lot more complex now than it was before, but the lessons are similar to when we were kids: don't talk to strangers, don't give out your telephone number and address, etc.

Software helps, but it can't (and won't) be the only thing that protects my child on the internet.

McDonald's go large on job applications {Walletpop UK}

Jun 19th 2009 7:23AM I worked at McD's for 3 years in high school and it never did me any harm. In fact, I learned a great deal about hard work and discipline and most importantly, taught me that I most-certainly did not want to work there for the rest of my life :)

Is a wedding planner worth the money? {Walletpop UK}

Jun 15th 2009 12:15PM my wife and i are 2 different nationalities and we got married overseas, so we had a planner and it was hugely helpful. she told us what UK paperwork we needed and made sure the relevant italian authorities received it, etc. we would have had a really difficult time going it alone. i'd heartily recommend getting a planner if you're getting married abroad.

Jun 12th 2009 5:39AM not dissimilar to what Wal-Mart did a few years back with "offensive" cd's and music

WalletPoll: Who is leaving The Apprentice tonight? {Walletpop UK}

Which Apprentice is better: UK or US? {Walletpop UK}

May 7th 2009 6:22AM interesting. i've never seen the US show, but have heard that his winners actually get decent jobs within trump's companies. sir allan's winning candidates get well-paid but essentially useless jobs within his organization.
