Mall of America gets luxury hotel on the Fed's dime {Gadling}

Aug 21st 2010 8:58AM If there was a strong demand for a luxury hotel at the Mall of America, private companies with strong financial integrity would be lining up to build this hotel. It is simple economics, if there is a high probability of achieving strong cash flow and profits - this hotel would have been built years ago. If a luxury hotel so important to the Mall of America, why have not the Mall owners built this hotel?

"If you build it, they will come"...is a recipe for failure. Like all other business, it is the law of supply and demand that will determine which hotel will be successful.

There are thousands of hotel rooms surrounding the Mall of America. In the past there was a hotel adjoining the Mall of America that certainly met the "luxury" criteria. But it is no more. What does that tell you?

Creating jobs is not a real good reason to justify building a hotel. Consummer demand for a luxury is what should justify this project, not a one-time slush fund.

Roland Burris Defends ACORN, Says 'Fox Sting' and 'Agendas' to Blame {Politics Daily}

Oct 9th 2009 10:14AM If ACORN has done nothing wrong, then they should welcome such scurtiny so that they can silence their many critics.

To think any agency that accepts government funding is exempt from being audited falls within the definition of insanity.

perhaps the RNC should send Pallin's duds to Michelle for recycling and to save the world from global warming?

Jet fuel plunges, but surcharges are here to stay {WalletPop}

Oct 28th 2008 6:09PM What is a fair airfare...only what someone is willing to pay. If the public told the airlines to go screw themselves and stayed home or found alternative travel arrangements, airfares would fall faster than a stone.

And if the airlines held firm on their pricing and people do not fly, then they lose billions of dollars and the US Taxpayers will be forced into another bailout...supposedly for National Security reason or some other make-believe reason. It is time for some of the airline industry to "pass away".

I booked 4th quater 2008 airfares this past February. In checking airfares last night, I found all of them on sale and received over a 20% refund after I forced the airlines to reissue my tickets at current fares. Do youself a favor, reprice your airfares from time to time and then call and raise hell with the airlines.

The airlines have gone out of their way to make the passengers lives miserable these days...so what is good for the goose is good for the gander!
