Mar 14th 2010 11:20AM Well, many years ago, a book titled "Silent Spring" asserted that DDT was affecting birds, making some near extinction, this all due to DDT. Fortunately for the USA, Malaria and related diseases had been defeated by DDT (yes folks, America was full of malaria and deaths fromit pre DDT). The hysteria brought on by the book caused the banning of DDT use and production as enviornmentalists insisted be done. Since that time , 50 million people have needless died of malaria world wide and over 1 million per year continue to die from it, mostly children under 5. It is many times greater killer than aids epidemic. But here is the ironey, the banning saved not a single bird - DDT was no factor in bird issues - this is an example of enviornmental kooks murdering and maiming for life, millions of people on a false premise and for God knows what real reason. Enjoy your bed bugs, malaria will be back.

Humans had evolved to accept low sanitation levels and constant low level disease from parasites and bacteria. Feb 24th 2010 9:21AM The biggest flaw is the recent comprehensive and international study on obesity and the increase in obesity in some countries. Result? - "Increase obesity is directly related to the degree of sanitation in the person's enviornment - it appears that excess sanitation results in excess general wellness and therefore excess appitite". The study showed conclusivly that the higher the development of a country the higher the sanitation and lease amought of more or less constant low level disease caused by parasites and bacteria. While it is clearly not new to associated below level weight with disease (sickness) it was not fully realized humans had eveloved to live with such low levels of disease and the absence thereof causes excess appitite. It was further concluded that the trigger was that we evolved to build weight when health so we could survive the frequent battles with disease. Bottom line, dring the tap water in Mexico and you won't get fat.
