British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Cut Fuel Surcharges {Gadling}

Dec 19th 2008 9:56AM This is good news, but they aren't cutting where it really hurts - long haul and premium cabins.

They're going to raise the fares to counteract these cuts, so that won't really change what we pay in most cases, but the fees will be reduced for reward flights. And if they aren't cutting the fees on premium or long-haul trips then the real value for reward flights still aren't really there.

The Asian carriers did a bit better with cutting their long-haul surcharges, but theirs were also way higher to begin with.

It is a step in the right direction, but there is still a long way to go.

JetBlue's JFK Terminal 5 opens its doors {Gadling}

Oct 22nd 2008 10:36PM I spent about six hours there today and I have to say that it is a pretty impressive facility. Sure, they managed to rip a door off an airplane with one of the new jet bridges, and they managed to set off the sprinkler system at the pizza place in the food court.

But those are small setbacks against the positive side of the ledger that includes a bright, open terminal and some of the best views of the active runways at the airport.

Overall it is a great facility, both for aviation enthusiasts or just people looking to catch the next flight to wherever JetBlue is taking them that day.
