Mar 15th 2011 10:27PM you are a smart man. and joanne blowin in the wind is about civil rights and was sung at a dr. martin luther king civil rights gathering by peter, paul and mary. it had nothing at all to do with vietnam and it was written in late 62or early 63while jfk was president. we didn't get deeply involved in vietnam until the day after kennedy was killed. it was johnson's first act as president that we increase our presence in vietnam. this also was what raised another question to why kennedy was killed. he didn't want to submit to those who wanted a war so the arms manufacturers could reap unbelievable profits. this is what the song masters of war was about. kennedy knew it was a no win situation in nam because france was there since i believe 1954 and not surprisingly couldn't defeat them. all of you who call bob dylan a war protester are blaming the wrong person. fonda you can blame she's and her brother are both nut cases. write to billy joel his goodnight saigon is written in the 1st person and he was somewhere in long island. research people do your homework before you shoot your mouths off and make fools of yourselves. i served 2 tours in nam so i do know what it was lke
