Study: 60% of Teens Drive While Texting, Despite Knowing Dangers {Switched}
May 25th 2009 4:13PM "T",
You're generally correct. Doing anything while driving, other than driving, is a negative. You're also correct that talking on the phone is worse, as it is mostly a cognitive distraction and not a physical one. I do take issue with your correlation that because people over 30 are incarcerated, they exercise worse judgment that those under 30. Assuming your facts are correct, you're simply upset that my remarks about brain function applies to those 25 and under. There's no science in your correlation. No wisecrack to be found either. Here, read this:

This is one of many studies done over the last decade. I'm also not entirely sure how it is you come to these conclusions race and age. But it speaks volumes for your inability to form a coherent thought. Keep working on it though. It should improve with age. (That is a wisecrack.)
Study: 60% of Teens Drive While Texting, Despite Knowing Dangers {Switched}
May 24th 2009 2:04AM I'm 36 and I fly large commercial airplanes for a living. I can do a lot of things that require multi-tasking, but wouldn't consider texting while driving on my best day. I can also say that you've overestimated your abilities to multi-task by a long shot. Combine that with the fact that the part of your 22 year-old brain which handles judgment, will not fully develop until you're about 25, and you can appreciate while texting, let alone talking on a cell phone while driving is an accident waiting to happen.

Galley Gossip: What is RIGHT with the airlines? (There's got to be something!) {Gadling}
Sep 25th 2008 10:22AM I appreciate you perspective. I'm a pilot for a major airline, and have flown on air carriers throughout the world. I place much of the blame for weak customer service on transient upper management, who speak in platitudes about what they will do on their watch. When push comes to shove, they end up cutting wages and jobs. Meaning fewer front line employees (you and me), to do the real interfacing with passengers.
With that said, passengers and labor can also shoulder some of the blame. The media froths at the mouth for any story involving air travel, as it sells advertising. So, naturally, passengers are predisposed to be on edge when traveling. As a pilot it really bums me out to see kids staring at a seatback television, instead of out the window on takeoff or landing. Here I thought all the magic was happening outside.
Master Mechanics vote for 3,000-mile oil change interval {Autoblog}
Jul 13th 2006 11:42AM You guys using Mobil 1, and changing your oil at the "standard" 3000 mile interval, are throwing away a lot of cash. I've been using Mobil 1 in my Audi S4 (2.7 twin turbo) since it was new. Initially, using the car's oil change indicator to cue the change. Usually around 6000-8000 miles. But I began having some of the oil analyzed by an independent lab Based on their comments, I have since increased the interval to about 10000-12000 miles. The engine is in extraordinary condition, even as it approaches 75,000 miles.
"every 3000 miles" is the oil industry's equivalent to the diamond industry's "two month's salary" rule for engagement rings. It has absolutely no basis in fact. Always consider the source.
