Student sues US Airways for $1 Million - for a lost gaming console {Gadling}

Mar 11th 2009 4:17PM Just this weekend, my wife and I flew on American, and due to high volume of carry-on bags, we were told, on the plane, that we had to check a bag (which was subsequently lost for 48 hours, another story). That bag had our DSLR camera in it (since we had no chance to repack before the FA took the bag), and once it was lost, we were face-to-face with the "no electronics liability" issue. Anyone know what our rights are in this situation, where we carried on a perfectly legal carry-on that we were forced by the airline to check before they lost it? Would we have had to resort to a $1M lawsuit?

Nov 19th 2008 3:23PM My vote is definitely for the ScottEVest Fleece 5.0, which I own. While the pockets, etc certainly differentiate it from the million other fleece jackets out there, it's actually a nice, non-bulky fleece jacket apart from the pockets.

The only problem I've found is that I load it all up with stuff (iPod, phone, wallet, headphones, sunglasses), then the next day, I put on a different coat and forget everything!

Continental announces a 'downsize' for carry-ons starting November 1 {Gadling}

Oct 23rd 2008 2:00PM Glad to see that Gadling sees this issue for what it is -- a money grab. Clearly this doesn't change the amount of baggage on the plane (hence the weight, hence the fuel required for the plane), since bags are merely transferred from passenger compartment to baggage compartment.

And I'm right there with you, Chris. As somebody who has bought bags based on their approval as carry-ons, this was the first thing I thought when I saw this article.

Product review - Scottevest "Scott Jordan Signature System" jacket and fleece {Gadling}

Sep 30th 2008 11:30AM I preordered the Fleece 5.0 jacket, and received it about 2 weeks ago. It's all that the review says it is -- tons of pockets and a clearly well-thought-out design that makes it easy to carry tons of stuff. I haven't loaded it up to the extent the reviewer did, but it's great for carrying my phone, iPod, (sun)glasses, and having headphones velcroed-in all the time (and occasionally, a digital camera).

And I have to add, their customer service is phenomenal. When I preordered, I requested their expedited shipping, even though the jacket wasn't scheduled to be out for a month. I was contacted by their customer service with an "Are you sure?" email, and I responded that I was, and that I was hoping the jacket would arrive before their estimated date, and that I'd get it in time for a trip I was taking. They understood, and agreed that if it came in early they'd expedite shipping, but if not, they'd ship it standard and not charge me for the shipping. I never expected that kind of customized service!

Living in the northeast, I'm definitely considering the Quantum jacket as well.

And no, I don't work for them -- I just appreciate great design in things I use daily, and think they should be recognized for it.
