SmackDown: Should a Kid Be Allowed to Scream at a Restaurant? {ParentDish}

Sep 10th 2010 4:24PM Please...give me a break. I raised five children, including one with autism. I understand that they are all different, BUT, I never expected the world to understand and accept bizarre behaviors. I learned to ignore stare from my child's strange gestures but I absolutely did not tolerate him screaming for any reason. My solution: if just one kid, "normal" or autistic made a scene ANYWHERE, EVERYONE left immediately. Restaurant? no problem, pack everyone up, take them home with food to go. The one that caused the problem learned their lesson quickly enough when they found the rest of the family mad at them. Even a mentally challenged human being, including autistics, learn their lesson and never repeat their undesirable actions. I absolutely support the restaurant and their sign.

Oh, Baby: Teen Mom Blogs Pregnancy on YouTube {ParentDish}

May 15th 2010 7:47AM What a rant. I don't think this article was an invitation for you to stand on a soapbox to pat yourself on the back. I actually agree with a lot of what you said, but honey, you need to lighten up. I raised five kids, now all adults, very conservatively, but that didn't mean they ended up perfect all of the time. Had one of my children made me a grandmother prematurely, I would have just handled it. I am guessing your children are all pretty young, because right now you are looking at the world through those proverbial rose colored glasses.

To young Jessica - CONGRATULATIONS, enjoy every minute with little Lilia!

Ad Rant: The new Sun-Maid Girl's raisins are growing {WalletPop}

Dec 3rd 2009 2:07PM I am confused Tularosa, "You obviously don't care how women are portrayed. But there are people who don't want to give their money to others who violate their values." I am a woman, and I don't see why you consider this a violation of your values. What did the female portrayed do that an abomination of anyone's value's? I don't value Hollywood or celebrities, but this was harmless, perhaps by opinion poorly executed, but made no derogatory statement about women. Comparing this to a swastika? "would you buy a product if the company logo was a gay man? Or shooting up? How about if the logo was a swastika? Or if you knew the company used 8 year old indentured servants to make your toasted flakes?" They are NOT GUILTY OF THIS.

Self-checkout machines cause 'stage fright' in shoppers {Daily Finance}

Nov 3rd 2009 7:46AM For those of you who feel like only idiots struggle with those machines, you are WRONG. Both my husband and I are educated, experienced adults with high IQ's. WE struggle with the self check out. Inevitably there is an item that won't scan, or a bottle of wine that requires identification. Don't call me stupid because I hate the hassle unless there are long lines I want to avoid.

The One Sure Way to Stop Sexual Harassment {Lemondrop}

Feb 28th 2009 2:22PM This is not only true for sexual harassment, it's true of ANY harassment we suffer under a jerk of a boss. My sister once left a company and sued after having been TRULY sexually harassed and was able to easily prove it. Guess what my other sister did? She liked the idea of a free ride and unsuccessfully sued HER BOSS (after she stupidly quit a good job). All the while, I am a sole woman working in a mostly male industry. I am "enduring" much worse with a sense of humor. The president one night asked me (with a witness) to go back to a hotel with him. I said: "Ya know, if I were to have an affair with anyone in this world, it would be you, but I love you, I love your wife and I love my job." He just smiled at me and we went back to business as usual.

Racists React to Obama Victory {Politics Daily}

Nov 13th 2008 8:45PM I did not vote for President elect Obama. Still, I wish him the best success as President of the greatest country on this Earth, for the
good of all of us. What kind of human being would wish him dead, what kind of low life would judge him based on his skin color?
I will relate a story. When my children were small, I would take them to the laundromat everyweek, where my black friend and I would help each other, both having a new baby boy and toddler girls. One day my daughter asked me: "Mommy why does (JANE) have brown skin and mine is pink?" Now here I am holding Jane's baby brother as her mother was folding her laundry (a reciprocal, mutual gesture), I declared to Jane's mothers astonishment and approval: "Honey, it's like you and me, I have black hair and you have yellow hair, Jane has brown skin and you have pink skin." My daughter and Jane went right back to playing with their assorted colored "My Little Pony" collection, and Jane's mom and I went right back to taking care of each other's babies while we performed our laundry chores. Just because I loved Jane's Mommy does not mean I would VOTE for her, I would not vote for her because of her color, but I would not vote against her because of her color, but more importantly, I would not hate her for her skin color PINK OR BROWN, YELLOW or BLACK hair.

TSA agent helped himself to a $47,900 camera (and more!) {Gadling}

Oct 13th 2008 4:39PM Mary, yes, the background check is extensive. I have a friend who just went through this proceedure for the same job, and was declined simply because his wife once called the police in a domestic dispute! They asked everyone in his family questions before declining him - and he is a nice guy who just locked himself in a bathroom when his wife threw something at him! He went through every kind of psych evaluation there was. Somehow this Brown dude either just faked it through or turned to greed on the job.

Should All Men Be into Sports? Give This Guy Your Advice {Lemondrop}

Oct 11th 2008 3:27PM Scott, I don't think it matters one way or another. I have had the same partner for 20 years, and we are as diverse as it gets, yet we have our shared passions and passions of the others that we have adopted. I was raised to love sports, so that has never been an issue. Married to an avid golfer, I have learned to be the best caddy ever (driver, score keeper, beer gal). He had to learn to enjoy my loves (classical music, ballet, and 18th century French impressionists). We are 13 years apart in age. He is from the north, I am from the south. He was raised as Republican, I as a Democrat. I am a devout Christian, he believes in nothing. All of those things mean NOTHING in the scheme of a true love life. Do not fashion your self in any kind of mold except what you truly are, then the right woman will love every bit of that in you; then you fashion your life to meld with hers, expect the same from her, and you will both be happy. Keep one thing in mind here my darling: you will still fight, you will still have power issues, you will wonder from day to day if you made the right decision and sometimes wish you were still single. It's called a commitment that makes you fight not with but FOR each other. When you find a woman who is in that fight for life with you, you will know it and find a way to be happy with it. Sports? Beer? Neither have anything to do with a loving happy relationship, and I will give my judgemental opinion, that if that is all your relationship is based on (i.e. her opinion of your sports perception) than you are better off without women with such notions. What ever you do, just be yourself, but compromise and learn new things, or you will be miserable. Good luck to you dear!
