Sep 22nd 2012 12:09AM As a twenty year veteran airline employee I have firsthand knowlegde. There are many rules for the safe carriage of animals, but these are just rules. There are some caring employees, but for the most part, a kennel is treated just like any other bag. Kennels are supposed to be loaded last and in front and offloaded first. I once offloaded a jet and buried under all the luggage at the back of the pit was a kennel with a dog. Fortunately the dog was okay. I wrote a report, but no none cared. Bottom line, the airlines don't care about anything but getting an ontime departure, and if it means bending the rules, so be it. Please people, do not ever put your beloved pet in the hands of airline personnel. If you must travel with your pet, carry the pet in cabin with you.

Jun 19th 2010 1:40PM As an airline employee for over 20 years, I can tell you that there are strict rules for the carriage of pets, however, most baggage handlers treat pets as bggage, and that's not good. There are the exceptional few who love animals and will make sure that animal is taken care of properly, but for the most part no. I am always sad to see a kennel come in and I want to tell people. please don't take your pet's along, unless you take them with you in the cabin. I have seen and heard many sad stories, two of my own include Delta. Kennels are to be loaded last, facing front. Twice, while offloading the jet, I found a kennel under all the bags, facing the back of the pit, it was a miracle that the animals could survive that, one kennel was dented in from all the weight of the bags. I wrote up both incidents, with no response. I asked my boss if I could write to the president of the airline, and he said that would do no good as he had far more important things to worry about. I thought this was important. Anyway, my main concern is for the safety of the animals, so please don't put your animals in this situation.

May 29th 2010 5:14PM Please go to your local animal shelter and adopt a cat. Cats are very independent and don't need you around all the time, however they will love you when you are home. Visit your shelter and adopt a friend for life!

Apr 10th 2010 12:58AM For Amanda and all you others who don't know who she is, it's a shame because she has a beautiful voice. Her sister is Shelby Lynne, another awesome singer. I wish they could get the airplay they deserve instead of well....what you have on the radio now. These ladies can truely sing, and can stand up on stage with Stevie Nicks or anyone else. What a sad state the music industry has become.....
