French Deemed Worst Tourists {Gadling}
Sep 15th 2008 7:51PM People are people.
You are born on a piece of land that happens to be called a certain thing, you can't help where you are born. Sometimes that land even changes. If Country A takes over Country B and B becomes A, do we now give country B the same stereotypes as A?
It is kind of pathetic and immature, and shows a complete lack of understanding, not only for how the world work but how people work, to label a huge chunk of this earth as one thing or the other. Would that fly in any other serious discussion or topic in life? these unfounded assumptions that lead us nowhere fast.
Leave the judging to the individual. You folks meet one annoying French family or German couple and decide that is the only evidence you need to condemn a country of millions, a country that you have seen maybe 1% of. Doesn't seem to be a very logical mind set.
Is it safe to assume that you French bashers and German haters are illogical, xenophobic, immature jerks? Or can I let you speak for yourself more after you have taken the time to think matters through in a sensible way? I won't be unfair and label you as such, if you at least try to be more fair and justify yourselves beyond one shitty encounter or one botched week in Paris (try getting out of the city btw). It won't fly with me and I hope others call you out for your bogus claims. Don't expect others to adjust to your lifestyle, it is yours, meet people half way.
People are people.
Land is land.
We can't help where we are born and it does not make us one way or the other.
Aren't these simple concepts?
Perhaps you folks can start to understand them.
