Feb 26th 2011 5:07PM Marcus seems like he turned out just fine. There are not that many happy people in the world, and still fewer that get so much from the happiness of others. Seems like he won, overall. One thing I could do without though, is all the hyperbole on the part of commentors. Specifically,
1) to the poster who said Dupress benched 400lbs ten times for the coaches (at 200lbs, no less). Since the average advanced bencher handles about 77% of his max for 10 reps, this would put Marcus' one rep max at 525lbs (again, at 200 lbs). Sorry. Not buying it.
2) To the poster who noted that David Thompson would have been bigger than Michael Jordan had he gone to the NBA . . . Sorry, but Michael Jordan was a LOT more than vertical leaping ability. He is almost universally recognized as the best ever because of his ability to deliver when it counted - knocking down jumpers, floaters, playing unparalleled tough defense. etc.If vertical leaping ability were everything, Vince Carter would probably be the best ever. David was a decent jump shooter, an adequate defender. But no doubt, extraordinary leaping ability.
Dec 11th 2010 9:48PM Good catch on that. you are absolutely right.
Oct 26th 2010 8:48PM Looks like someone is trying to prove what a badass he is.
Sep 2nd 2010 5:51PM Wait a minute. Let me get this straight. You are equating THIS outburst to Serena Williams LITERALLY threatening the life of a diminutive line judge? There sure are a lot of people that need to grow up. This has nothing to do with color, and those people that insist it does only hurt the cause of racial equality because it takes the focus off all the ways in society where it still exists.
Jul 14th 2010 1:36AM Kind of sad how there are some acting like bad-asses on a thread like this, taking a story about a fairly helpless animal and trying to bolster their own lack of self-esteem by pretending they exerted some sort of dominance over it. Probably scared of their own shadows and live with their mothers
Jul 12th 2010 11:44AM I am certainly no Canseco fan, even though he seems to be the only one telling the truth about steroids in sports, but he is OBVIOUSLY taking it easy on this guy and consciously trying not to hurt him. Get real. I admire the 60 year old, but he is not even in particularly good physical condition.
Jun 24th 2010 9:18PM Yessiree, you done showed them a thing or two . . . See when you call him Barack HUSSEIN Obama, everyone will think he is a terrorist . . . .right???
Never realized we had so many rednecks among us.
May 24th 2010 2:07PM I have mixed feelings on the finale. All in all, the show was very entertaining over the years, with some exceptions (I wasn't exactly on the edge of my seat when the action took place in a luxury apartment and everyone argued about pushing the button every four hours, or whatever it was).
But the finale, though very effective as far as extracting emotion, really didn't tie up much of anything at all. In fact, it was really more of a modern day "Dallas" type conceit, where EVERYTHING that took place before it is somewhat discounted because this, after all, did not take place in the real world.
They sure gathered some GREAT performers for that cast, though.
Apr 8th 2010 11:46AM Wow!! hard to believe that there are so many on this forum that defend this piece of crap because of his golfing skills!! Can't you see that his belief that his golfing skills, wealth and fame gave him carte blanche over any moral responsibility is what got him to this place to begin with.
What a bunch of friggin sheep people are. Tiger and Nike are laughing their asses off at you all.
Mar 29th 2010 7:33PM Why don't you comment on the subject of the article?
Oh, forgot . . . that would be inconvenient.
