Out of the Mouths of Moms: Best and Worst Gifts {Shopping Articles Blog}

Apr 21st 2010 8:06AM Hand-made cards from my kids are special to me. Their individual personalities come out through the cards. (They also learn that communicating to loved ones is important!) I've gotten many gifts over the years, but the cards are the best. I also give to my mother like she gave to hers, but the thing I remember most is my mother calling her mother weekly. Cards, calls, emails, whatever -- it's the communication that counts.

Playing It Safe for Olympic Gold {Fanhouse Olympics Blog}

Feb 19th 2010 10:42AM Evan deserves the gold. He had a difficult routine, executed the jumps, got the points where he needed them, and put some style into it, too. Silver medal winner did a simple routine, put most of his jumps in the beginning of the routine and did not even pull them off cleanly, thought his kiss-blowing could cover for his poor execution, and now he whines that he is more athletic than the gold medal winner? I thought Weir should have gotten the bronze. He did everything right. The #3, #4, and #5 competitors fell, and Weir did not. The crowd jeered at Weir's low scores. They thought he should have gotten higher scores, too.

Budget-Friendly Valentine's Day Gifts Under $30 {Shopping Articles Blog}

Feb 9th 2010 9:02AM The most unique non-cliche budget gift I've received included hand-written letter and candle-lit bubble bath waiting for me when I got home. Ok, it's not so non-cliche, but it was thoughtful, and relaxing.

Time Was Right for Saints' Gutsy Call {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Feb 8th 2010 10:05AM It's not about Louisiana. It's not about the city of New Orleans. It's about the Saints and their teamwork and tenacity to make it to the top. They had to beat Warner, Favre, and Manning to do it, and they did it. Congrats, Saints! You deserve it!

Here's Da Deal on 'Who Dat' Controversy {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Feb 2nd 2010 7:55AM The tag line to get one to link to this article talks about the Saints stealing the chant. So you write to say it doesn't belong to the Saints, spend half the article talking about how the great Bengals embraced it, then admit that it started in Louisiana? You just can't stand that Saints will be at Super Bowl instead of Cincinnati, can you?
Why does Louisiana not have a right to it? Because no one should have a right to it. How can you OWN a chant? Does anyone own "2,4,6,8.."? Does anyone own "De-fense! De-fense!"? Does anyone own "GOOOOOOOOO!"?
Countless teams, pro or not, in Louisiana have chanted this as far back as I can remember (and that would be the 60s). If the Saints would have been Super Bowl worthy back then, the chant would have made it to the Super Bowl then people like this writer could not deny that it originated in Louisiana and migrated to most Louisiana sports teams everywhere no matter WHO the mascot. I assure you Saints fans have been "chanting" this since the beginning at their football games, and that is before the Bengals went to Super Bowl. GEAUX Saints! YALL wanna try and take credit for "GEAUX", too?

Favorite Holiday Stories {Shopping Articles Blog}

Dec 14th 2009 7:47AM We read the Bible's story of Jesus' birth every year and sing a few Christmas carols. On other nights we would read "Night Before Christmas". When I was little, I looked forward to the part where he "threw open the sash". As kids we looked forward to Rudolph and Frosty on tv. My kids today do not rate these as top Christmas specials today. They are more into Polar Express and Grinch.

Ad Rant: Dockers ads claim "soft" khakis will make men more manly {WalletPop}

Dec 9th 2009 7:41AM This is not sexist and not "against" women. We all can get the hint here and "wear the pants". We ALL have become too passive. We ALL should take responsibility for what the world has become - polluted, in more ways than one.
Did you notice that 80% said ad is not sexist?
Just another author provoking war among us, when those with influence should be promoting unification and responsibility.

'Sesame Street' Dig at POX News Draws Backlash, Rebuke From PBS {PopEater}

Nov 9th 2009 8:58AM Even if you don't consider the names of the networks used in this skit, the female viewer preferred watching a TRASHY SHOW? Do we want to encourage our kids to agree with this person to watch a trashy show? --no matter what network it comes from? No kids' show should promote watching "trashy" shows. If the kids won't remember the network names, they surely will remember that the muppets like to watch trashy shows, so they will want to watch one, too. This skit should not be allowed on a kids' show. Maybe it's good enough for Saturday Night Live.
