Mar 8th 2012 4:08AM These folks live a few miles from me, and their story was in the news here. What the news report did not mention was that - contrary to appearances - the couple doesn't actually live in that house. According to property tax records, they own the house but live in another home in that same part of our 'burb. This fact makes me have a bit less sympathy for them.

Mar 4th 2012 1:23AM No mention at all in this article about RELIABILITY. I've heard that LEDs are much more reliable than LCDs. I had an early LCD (forgot the brand name, but it was from Wal-Mart) and it went kaplooey after a litte more than a year. I called a T.V. repair tech in, and he charged me a service visit just to tell me that it could not practicably be fixed, and I would just have to buy another one (the factory warranty had just run out). He warned me that LCD's reliablity was not good, and that LEDs were better in that regard. At the time, LEDs were ridiculously high-priced. It did not make me feel comfortable about buying another LCD T.V., but this one so far has not given me any problems after 2+ years. Maybe their technology has improved (?)
btw, experts say it is always worth buying extended warranties on big purchase items like T.V.s

Nov 24th 2011 12:36AM You think that's bad .. I remember my late dad being forced to stand during a Greyhound bus trip that was 4 hours long. He was in his 70s, diabetic, and in poor health at the time. He asked a lady to let him have the seat next to her, but she refused to give it up for her young child, and the bus driver backed her up.
When dad filed a complaint with Greyhound the next day, the co. claimed that when they sell a ticket to a passenger, they only guarantee PASSAGE on the bus, and not a SEAT. That's just insane!

According to the dates given, the prison was only shut down in 2004??? That would also mean it was still operating 10 years earlier when Shawshank was made, which I'm sure would not have been allowed.
