A light sleeper's lament: six things you shouldn't do in a hotel {Gadling}

Jan 14th 2012 2:32PM You are not alone. I am always conscious of other peoples desire for quiet under the more crowded conditions hotels have. I close my door softly. Very few people follow that example. It is as if only them exist in the hotel. I had neighbors slamming doors very late, after 11:30. I had next door neighbors at extended stay who would party at 2:00 am every morning and drink a keg during that time. Today's hotel patrons are mostly pigs. Business travelers have been getting the big push around lately and I resent that treatment.

A light sleeper's lament: six things you shouldn't do in a hotel {Gadling}

Jan 14th 2012 2:17PM This happened in a hallway at the rooms across from me after 11:30 p.m. Doors not closed softly. Just constant slamming. I called the front desk and they did nothing. This went on for several nights. Rage is how I felt. They were fat good ol' boys working at a state fair, getting back to the hotel to drink their beer and eat their heart disease pizza. Grrrr!

I am always conscious of others' right to peace. I always be sure to close my door softly when I have very close neighbors. I was raised to think of others and how it would be in their shoes.

Tom Stuker becomes first frequent flyer to pass 10 million miles, United celebrates {Gadling}

Jul 11th 2011 8:30PM I have to fly for my work. The worst thing about flying, to me, is taking off and landing through thunderstorms. They tend not to depart in thunderstorms, but sometimes they cannot help but to land in one. I hate it! In a week or two I will be at 600,000 miles on the airline I fly. I would have 750,000 miles but redeemed them.

Congratulations to Mr. Stuker!

Hugh Hefner's Secret to Scoring at 85: 'Consistency' {PopEater}

Jun 7th 2011 7:21PM I hope I can do what he does at 85! Hef is my hero! My dad was in his late 70s when he dated a gal in her 20s.

Parents Upset After School Yearbook Lists George W. Bush, Dick Cheney as Worst People of All Time {ParentDish}

Jun 2nd 2011 6:58PM This should not be shocking. At that age people are too young to think for themdpselves, and they want to be like everyone else. So they take the most popular position. In 10 years, some of them will look back regretfully. I was a teen too. I wanted to fit in. So I would be like everyone else. I was different in college! Thought for myself and developed many opinions that are politically incorrect. Read books on my own that were different than the socialist tripe the profs required.

Police Use Pepper Spray to Subdue 8-Year-Old at School {ParentDish}

Apr 6th 2011 6:52PM I side with the school officials. If the boy cannot help it but be violent it dips not the problem of the school or the police. Rough people have to be treated rough, even if "born that way."

America is too soft. I have neighbors calling their kids "M-Fs" and I am really disliking this jungle that America has become. SHAPE UP!

Cindy Jackson Boasts Guinness World Record for Most Plastic Surgery {Stylelist}

Apr 5th 2011 7:34PM Power to her! If you got the money - why not? I'm nearly 52, bags under my eyes, and a crease above my eyes and people seem to shun me. I hear people tell me I look tired or angry and I'm not. I am also a millionaire. Added together, I can afford to do these procedures - botox and blapheroplasty. I just need to take time off from work.

'Manning Up' by Kay Hymowitz: Has the Rise of Women Turned Men Into Boys? {MyDaily}

Mar 20th 2011 5:20PM Laura, on p. 44...

They repealed registration in the mid-1970s just before I was about to have to register. My father was very happy about that. My father did NOT even want me to think about the military.

Why? He was injured in WWII and did not want his only son injured as well.

I'm sure there are more than a few Desert Storm veterans who feel the same. Or Gulf War Veterans, or Afghanistan veterans. Thank you for your service. And yes, I was presented the folded flag (with bullet casings) at my father's funeral three months after his 79th birthday.
