May 17th 2013 11:14AM This is great for NYC, but not applicable much of elsewhere. There are no "housing courts" in our county and I hope we never have to go there, but it certainly give some of those who move here the expectation that they can be difficult tenants without consequences. The landlord tenant relationship is a two way street. You get what I offer and I expect you to pay for it and take care of it reliably. If you don't, you will be gone at the end of the term....on you own choosing because the terms for renewal will not be favorable.

Mar 3rd 2013 10:06PM A story about an HOA doing this pops up once a month or so. The HOAs always loose because of the 2005 act and most states, Florida for example, have laws prohibiting HOAs disallowing flying of the flag.

Tie him to that and he is done. Also, I hope he has a great accountant to run the taxes on these "multiple corporations" or he is going to get caught as a tax cheat and sent to jail.

Oct 26th 2012 5:35AM The HOA is limited in what they can do. For example, in FL the max fine is $100/day, $1000 maximum. They also have to give you a chance to correct the violation, e.g. 10 days. If there is anything similar in his state, this is silly. They could take and have it delcared a publicn nusiance, but it does not sound likely that would hold up, given the Mayor's citation.

Dec 16th 2011 10:23PM The Americans with Disabilities Act clearly requires accomodation be made for those with disabilities. We could certainly start with that. I don't think we need to, however, unless the HOA can clearly delineate what is different between this structure and the others in the HOA, which I doubt they can....and I am a Past HOA and Civic League President. Then there is the qustionof fighting it in court and I bet the HOA does not need to spend the money for this and has been advised they are likely to lose, whichis why the matter is on hold.
