Mar 20th 2011 12:04PM Hard work CAN get you ahead, especially if you are an entrepreneur running your own business. It other areas like the corporate world and the public sector, hard work also helps, but it also takes a lot of brown-nosing, a lot of enthusiastic nodding of the head that, yes, your superiors are coming up with wonderful, innovative ideas (whether they really ARE or NOT). Willingness to tell your superiors what they want to hear helps too. My superiors don't WANT to hear my ideas. They just get in the way. What they want is agreement with what they are going to do anyway.

Jan 2nd 2011 11:35AM It's very disheartening when a guy like Chuck Berry, one of the greatest rockers and rock 'n roll lyricists of all times, ends up being the kind of guy who in other areas of his life is a total creep. But unfortunately, that's the way it works sometimes where talent is concerned. His greatness in his art should not be doubted, even if that greatness does not carry over into his personal life as a man. Here's hoping he has a quick recovery.

How Much Is Too Much When It Comes to Homework? {ParentDish}

Dec 29th 2010 11:02PM The woman who wrote this article is a psychotherapist which is one of the problems in our public schools today. Instead of places where kids are TAUGHT, our schools have become places where kids are pychoanalyzed by either professionals or amateurs. Question: Is the kid given time in class to work on homework? If so, do they actually WORK on it in class or are they goofing around? Same goes for work they bring home. If they have 2 to 3 hours of homework every night, do they REALLY have that much, or are they just working on their homework a little, then piddling around for 20 minutes, then doing a little more, then piddling a little more, etc. etc? If so, 30 to 45 minutes of homework can EASILY be stretched into 3 or 4 hours! You have to watch your kid to make sure he/she is actually working!
