Feb 28th 2009 5:32PM Great story! I'm glad you enjoyed the southwest. I just wanted to clarify for you that the rock shown in your first picture is not Guadalupe Peak but El Capitan, the peak is obscured by El Capitan for most of the drive, but is visible in the background of your salt flat photo just to the left of El Capitan. Aug 15th 2008 12:02PM I'm a park ranger who got my start at Carlsbad in august of 2006. You've really put together a fantastic overview of a trip to the park. If everyone read this before visiting, we rangers would have a lot less headaches.
