Dec 2nd 2006 12:51AM It sounds like there are various levels of shyness. Some people aren't necessarily shy -- they just don't care for the mingling and chatting like some are more inclined to do (and enjoy). Then you have those shy ones who want to be more outgoing and know how to talk about whatever without thinking too hard about how to do it (that's me). Then you have those who have gone beyond shyness and suffer with social anxiety. And within that there are different degrees of anxiety. I have public speaking anxiety. I literally freeze up and can't talk no matter if I want to. I become too overwhelmed with fear. I don't know why I have this problem, but I am not happy with it. Logically, it sounds ridiculous to be afraid to sit in a room of people -- strange or familliar --- and be scared to introduce myself or talk when put on the spot. I have no problem interjecting and speaking at my own will, however. It's strange. I haven't encountered anyone else with my problem. But I know there are some out there with the same or similar problem. Anyone out there find a way to get over this problem? It would be nice if I could participate in group meetings and not flee like a scared baby. I'm 31!

Jul 1st 2006 6:40PM The difference is not in the sweat but in the arid or humidity of the city. For example, on the east coast (e.g., Atlanta), it is very humid. We sweat and stay wet. But on the west in the more arid parts of the country, people may sweat, but they dry faster because of the dry air. Hello....
