Stephanie Seymour and Her Son Bond On the Beach {Stylelist}
Jan 13th 2011 5:19PM What is wrong with a mother and her son walking along and her giving him a hug or a kiss? My 25 yr old daughter and I frequently put our arms around each other's waist when we walk (I'm the mom..) and I've given her a smooch or a hug. I'm her MOM. WHAT is disgusting about that? good grief people.
My Unemployed Life: The Forgotten Woman {AOL Jobs}
Nov 27th 2010 8:41PM Wow Mary, a little harsh don't you think? You apparently have no compassion what so ever. I did take a retail job, it does not pay my bills; I've lost my house and a great deal of my dignity. Being unemployed diminishes your self worth. I have always prided myself on never having to ask for help and making my own way, thank goodness I have never had to encounter someone as heartless and critical as YOU. Congratulation on your perfect world.
My Unemployed Life: The Forgotten Woman {AOL Jobs}
Nov 27th 2010 8:33PM I am a 56 year old woman, divorced with a grown daughter. I lost my job (in the corporate travel/expense field) in March 2009. Currently I am working part time as a retail sales associate making minimum wage. I have sent countless resumes both within, and outside of my fields of expertise. I interviewed possibly one out of every 20 resumes I sent out. I was never offered anything full time; only part time minimum wage. By hiring only part time, and paying minimum wage employers can get by hiring 3 people to do the job of one person, and still pay less (no benefits). Experience means nothing! After a year of unemployment I took the retail position I currently hold. Even though I am working my wages are less than what I was bringing in on unemployment yet I make too much to receive any supplemental unemployment funds. As a result I have had to sell my home to avoid foreclosure (my credit rating is now in the toilet as I missed 4 months of mortgage payments...my previous credit rating was excellent. I'm living in a one bedroom apartment, trying to get things under control financially and emotionally. As Mollie has said, this takes an emotional toll.
the bottom line, this can, happen to anyone. Think twice before you shoot anyone down for "not trying or whining" and all the other insults you have thrown at Mollie. No one is immune, be sure your glass house is also in order (and paid for)you could be next.
Doctors Say Kate Gosselin Had Bad Botox Job {PopEater}
Jun 25th 2010 7:09PM What do you want to bet, that SHE instructed the doctor where to put the Botox? (as it is rumored she told her dance partner, how to teach her how to dance...)
'Returnaholics' cost retailers billions of dollars a year {WalletPop}
May 25th 2010 8:11AM I am a sales associate in the fine jewelry department of a well known department. Even though our store has a liberal return policy, in fine jewelry the return must be made within 30 days of purchase with the receipt AND tags must be attached. Even then we have had people try to switch diamonds with CZ's (we test the diamonds!). The "tag attached" policy is to keep people from buying an item to wear it for a special occasion, then returning it. Even then, I had a woman purchase a $1700 bracelet, WEAR IT OUT OF THE STORE, then return it a few weeks later. She had the tag but obviously it was not attached (I'm the one who took it off!). Even with all of this, and the fact that I had told her the return policy, my manager approved the return "as a one time courtesy." I'm on commission, and that return put me in the hole for the week!
Sweet Tooth Gets Girl, 10, a Week of Detention {ParentDish}
May 13th 2010 10:09AM Whew! so many thoughts going through my head about this. I'll try to condense...
Rules ARE rules. If the school has a "no candy" policy then the children, AND their parents should have been aware of it. However does the punishment fit the crime? I have a feeling they are making an example of these girls.
My daughter teaches middle school and cell phone useage is forbidden during school. If she finds someone using their phone during her class, she simply takes the phone away then gives it back at the end of the day. why couldn't they have done that with the candy?
Asperger's Can Aid The Workplace {AOL Jobs}
Mar 18th 2010 10:36AM After our first date (when he did not make eye contact once) I suspected my boyfriend, Bob, likely has Aspergers. Even though he is 54 years old, his mother and daughter are both teachers, he has never been diagnosed. Though he is successful career wise (engineer) socially my heart aches for him. He has gone through life thinking he is "weird" because he can't deal with social situations. Even his close friends and family think he is odd because he is blunt with his assessments and opinions. I'm always telling him he is NOT weird, he just processes differently. Finally, one night I approached this subject with him. He had never heard of Aspergers, and was open to the thought that this may be the heart of his "weirdness." Thank you to everyone working to mainstream acceptance for people with Autism. This wonderful, kind man deserves to be understood.
Food stamp use skyrockets: How one family puts food on the table {WalletPop}
Nov 30th 2009 9:45AM am I the only one who thinks that this money could be better spent on something besides high sodium Ramen noodles? I see no green veggies and very little protein or dairy. Smoothies made with sherbert for breakfast? how about making a pot of spaghetti sauce that will feed you for several meals over all this frozen convenience processed junk? as one who was raised on "cooked from scratch" food I DO NOT understand this dependence on over priced, over processed pre-made meals. aside from a banana or two these kids are eating junk! and it has nothing to do with how much she is spending. she is a writer..but she needs to READ the nutritional info on those packages!!

When to use and avoid Orbitz, Travelocity and Expedia {Gadling}
Aug 5th 2008 3:36PM Robin,
Not having a seat pre assigned has nothing to do with having a seat on the plane. Any airline or travel agent should tell you that pre-flight seat assignments are a courtasy and that only a small percentage of seats are made available for pre travel assignment. The bulk of available seats are held back for day of travel assignemt by airline agents at the airport. Not having a "seat" on a flight usually means everyone else on the (always overbooked) flight showed up earlier than you, and you were bumped from a full flight. The remedy for this is to show up and check in EARLY for your flight . Even with a "seat assignment", if you show up late and they will give "your seat" to someone who checked in before you.
