Exhibit A: All Roads in American Politics Circle Back to Abortion {Politics Daily}
Nov 10th 2009 8:49PM Universal coverage is just that, universal. If you want a system where we hunt and pick to see what we'll cover, we currently have that and we dont want it
Exhibit A: All Roads in American Politics Circle Back to Abortion {Politics Daily}
Nov 10th 2009 8:43PM I'm sick of this abortion debate. It's amazing that no one can find any reason to fix health care which bankrupts many people and costs so much that people are afraid to go to the doctor at times.... what's the hold up this time? Abortion.
Seriously? Let's not turn this into a pro-life/pro-choice debate because let's face it: If you didn't want to get pregnant, you shouldn't have had sex. If you think that every life should be spared, what about the children that the parents don't want?
The "innocent" children is always a winning argument as is "Abortion is murder." Well, technically so are vaccines, but clearly there is a difference. Neither side listens to the other side, but the one exception is that pro-life people don't have to sit through forced discussions with pro-choice people when they sign up to give their babies up for adoption.
Let's fix healthcare so people can actually afford it instead of having to be afraid to give your kidney to your dying child when it could count as a pre-existing condition when you lose your job and health insurance.
DTV preparedness now more than 95-percent {Engadget HD}
May 5th 2009 2:47PM You know what would make it 100%? If you turned it off in February.
This date has been posted everywhere for a while now. Hopefully, people won't start complaining in a couple weeks that June 11th is too soon. I've been ready for months and have been enjoying free HD. It's not a matter of money so much as not procrastinating. The DTV converter boxes haven't gotten much cheaper since then. I picked one up on eBay for $25 and it was a very good one, Insignia.
We don't need free HD cable because then we couldn't use multiple tuner cards for the PC and we'd be stuck with the CableCard monopoly. I wouldn't mind it, but I'd rather have the OTA stuff. Cable compresses their signal too much.
Netflix streaming-only subscriptions coming 'in the future' {Engadget HD}
Feb 28th 2009 11:49PM I hear people thinking that they should go to a streaming only service and get rid of DVDs.
The name appears to be appropriate, but tell me, how would this work for you if you rent the movies to watch on your commute? It wouldn't because you couldn't
effectively stream to one of those devices, at least not nearly as well as renting the physical DVD.
It would be great for some, but definitely not for me. I'll still with the physical DVDs unless they let me download to my Zune or iPod. Zune might go for it one day,
but I don't see Apple jumping on this when they have their own rental store.
Led Zeppelin Eyes Tour, Sans Plant {Spinner}
Dec 22nd 2008 9:49PM I agree with what someone else said.... Coverdale. He played with Page before and from what the guys in Def Leppard said in an interview, he nails every take.
You don't want another Plant? OK. That makes sense because both Judas Priest and Journey went that route, and only JP went back to Halford despite how good Demolition was.
The man (or even woman) would need to be able to sing. Maybe not perfect, but even on some of the old Zep albums, it wasn't perfect but it fit the songs very well.
Coverdale would get my vote.
Universal and Sony prohibit Zune sharing for certain artists {Engadget}
Dec 4th 2008 11:54PM Keep in mind that Sony spends millions to come up with ways to stop people from ripping music onto MP3s so that they can't play the songs on the Sony Walkman-MP3 players that they sell. They came up with the root-kit that can be disabled by holding down the left-shift key. The previous one was disabled by circling the metal ring on the outside of the CD with a permanent marker.

Why Would Blacks Join The Republican Party? {Blackvoices Main}
Sep 3rd 2008 11:50PM I would rather have less taxes spent on government programs so that I can afford to go to school. My taxes are essentially 35% of my income and most of the money goes to fund a bureaucracy instead of an efficient way to do business. If my taxes were reduced to only the essentials (maybe 12%), I could afford to go to school without having to get a second job. My family couldn't help me either and I made just over the threshold required for grants and the like. Essentially, my hard earned money was going to pay for other people to go to school. I would like to see a lower need for dual income households by reducing taxes so I can stay at home with my kids and keep them from dying by some gang in the street.
Why Would Blacks Join The Republican Party? {Blackvoices Main}
Sep 3rd 2008 9:49PM The interesting thing here is that people think that a black man can't choose to be a Republican. He made a conscious decision for that party. You say he's self serving? You say that Republicans hate gays..... many blacks are very religious and as people who are very religious they generally tend to not like gays and transgendered people. What's the big deal? Let them vote for Republicans if they are conservative. Let them decide for themselves instead of being made to feel like they're not "black" by not voting Democratic. End the groupthink.
Are Men Smarter Than Women? {News Bloggers}
Aug 24th 2008 9:13PM The comparison of the bell curve doesn't take into account one thing: women in a group tend to act as smart as the least intelligent woman in the group (it's true). Men don't have this problem.
The bell curve of the women when compared to the men probably had the center of the bell curve lower than the center of the man's bell curve whose standard deviation was of higher distance than the woman's bell curve. This would result in the condition as seen here.
Are Men Smarter Than Women? {News Bloggers}
Aug 24th 2008 3:33PM To say that men are meaner than women is a lie. Women are more deceptive when it comes to lying where men blatently will just lie and enjoy the fact that you know they are.
Many women say that they are smarter than men. I've seen women that say this, but yet they never want their decisions questioned to prove if this is true.
The discussion here seems to be whether it's a factor of nature vs. nurture and probably the only true way you may see the truth of this is to talk to transsexuals. Seriously. You have people who's mind is structured as the sex opposite to the one that they are born as. When studying them, you'll see the true result of nature vs. nurture.
Men are more competitive and have the drive to win at chess. Women may play more for the fun of the game and won't necessarily care if they win or lose. Men may look at it as a battle against their opponent and would sacrifice pieces to achieve that end where a woman would take a different approach and might not achieve the same result. In a world where some women don't like to program or claim to not be proficient at computers which is a result of social conditioning, you can't use a subjective tool such as chess and usage of strategy to determine intelligence. Some people can't strategize and much like they say about those who can't spell in English, it's not really a sign of intelligence. Even stupid people can spell.
