What is it about Porsche making changes that gets people all huffed up? I don't like the Cayenne but it's been intensely profitable. When the company went to water cooling people raised a ruckus. When they decided to make the Panamera it was as if the world was going to end? When are people going to realize that the 911 has only become more hardcore, despite what else Porsche is selling. Autoblog reported that the latest 911 turbo will have over 500 HP out of a 3.8 L six cylinder engine.
Remember, this is a car company that started out of the VW Beetle. They could have stayed with that and evolved at the Beetle's pace, or they could have broken out on their own and given the world cars that rival those costing several times the price.
