United just can't win with Canadian singer {Gadling}

Oct 30th 2009 7:13PM The 1st & last time U flew with UAL, I flew from BOS to Chicago O'Hare, then on to Hong Kong then flew Cathay Pacific to The Philippines which I still reside. When I finally arrived in Manila, I got my 3 boxes containing practically everything I own. My 2 computers & DVD recorder were damaged and a TSA card was in each but all 3 cartons were still sealed with UAL's tape. I filed claims with both TSA & UAL. Each side blamed the other & I got nada. I repaired my 2 computers fairly easily thank God but my DVD recorder had a damaged microprocessor from improper handling. The new main board even at dealer price & shipping was more than the cost to replace it was worth. Mind you this happened because I feel they had to teach me a lesson about baggage charges and what cust service tells me for a price is invalid and the inflated price they say will be paid. I fought them and won. I guess they had to teach me not to argue with them. So instead of paying then $225 more, I lost a $450 recorder instead. They will win one way or another. In a way it's all our faults for we as a people let them get away with this crap from the get go so now, they're too big to fight.

Five ways to beat the competition to the overhead bin {Gadling}

Oct 29th 2009 1:26PM Here in The Philippines, we are allowed 1, repeat 1 carry on and it must weigh less than 7 kg (15.4 lbs) and be under the template size. If not, it will either get checked or left behind. No ifs, ands, or buts or discussion. If you try to argue and cause a problem there are security guards armed with shot guns to put an end to the argument. Checked baggage must weigh 15kg or less for small planes and 20 kg for larger planes. Above that and you will pay but it is modest compared to the US. If the US followed and enforced the same rules as they do here I can guarantee you the overhead bin problem would be eliminated.....God Bless...

Author Urges Parents To Quit Hovering {ParentDish}

Oct 5th 2009 9:17AM Cliff,
Very interesting statement about the men becoming like women. I tried to scan for that phrase in the bible but couldn't find it. Can you provide the scripture reference to that?

Thank you,

Man threatens to explode bomb at SFO, gets one-way ticket to jail {Gadling}

Oct 4th 2009 2:35AM I think I can help with that. The Philippine govt Dept of Foreign Affairs requires all visitors of The Republic Of The Philippines to obtain ongoing transportation either by round trip or a separate ongoing passage out of the country dated before the initial 21 day free visit time or 59 days if you hold a valid 9a tourist visa issued by The Philippine Embassy serving your area. This is to cover the butts of the airline for if the person is denied entry at the port of entry which can be either NAIA Airport in Manila or Mactan Airport in Cebu, the airline would then be required to transport that person back to their original location on the airlines dime. The only exception to this rule is if the person is a permanent resident with an immigrant visa and has a valid alien registration card called the ACR-I card. Hope this helps clarify the reason.

Passenger's bathroom dash causes panic on United flight {Gadling}

Sep 30th 2009 12:41AM This post I'm now making is a joke but sometimes, you stop and wonder if someday, this will be the way it will be....

1 we surrender all luggage as in no more carry-on luggage.
2 we are all strip & cavity searched.
3 a catheter is inserted with bag attached.
4 a bedpan is issued (for a fee of course).
5 a hospital johnny is issued.
6 board the plane with military escorts each carrying an M-16
7 told to sit down, shut up, eyes front and anyone getting up will be shot.
8 at destination, taken off my military escort to a "Security" area where we all must account for the equipment issued (catheters & bedpans & johnny etc).
9 go through TSA screening again to be given clearance to leave the airport.

I'm sure I'll get a few comments on this one. But it makes you wonder.BTW, I agree, the terrorists have won.

Thanks for reading,

Southwest Airlines passenger too big to fly? You be the judge! {Gadling}

Sep 14th 2009 8:18AM I would have told her straight up too bad. I was told I had to buy two tickets and I did. This seat is mine! I didn't overbook the flight, you did. it's not my problem it's yours. Don't rob me to solve it. You definitely will not give me a refund for I'm still waiting for the last refund over a year ago (an example) so that promise is false. Stick to your guns. If they force you off because of that, you got a major lawsuit.

Aug 26th 2009 12:00AM Here in The Philippines, you are allowed 1 and only 1 carry on bag per passenger and it must weigh 7kg (15.4 lbs) or less! Any more and it gets checked. No argument. If you do, you have security guards armed with shotguns escorting you out.
