The Detroit Dining Scene: An Interview with Chef Steven Grostick {Gadling}

Jun 10th 2011 1:10PM Ok....let's read the article again. The WRITER said Novi was 'mostly white'...not the chef. Also...the chef did NOT say he was from Detroit. He said he was born and raised in MICHIGAN. What he DID say was that people don't say: "let's go to Detroit to eat" because Detroit is not known to be a great culinary hub, like Chicago or San Francisco. Well...DUH....it's the MOTOR CITY. You can't be 'known' for everything, although Detroit has some great restaurants. I lived in the metro area of Detroit for over 30 years. I went to school in Michigan and then we were known for cars, great Motown music, and the Tigers. To be honest, I like Mexico town, Greek town with a LaFayette coney and a Vernor's gingerale now and then. Not exactly fine dining, but it is certainly 1st class Detroit cuisine.

Why Men Take Out The Trash {Shelterpop}

Mar 24th 2011 9:45PM Why do men take out the trash? Because someone told them to 'take out the trash'. Most men will just keep filling up the can/bin until it overflows or until someone tells them "take out the trash'. Easy question.....easier answer. Anyone (male or female) who can walk by a full trash can and NOT empty it and take it out, is sorely lacking in mature adult thinking. It's YOUR trash, after all.

Decision 2012: Katie Couric and Ricki Lake to Duke It Out for Daytime Slot? {PopEater}

Mar 17th 2011 11:23AM I've successfully avoided seeing Katie or Ricki on my TV for several years now. Ever since Katie left 'Today', it's been a happy day when I missed her on CBS news. Moving to a daytime show won't be much of a career enhancement for her, but maybe she's tired of playing (poorly) with the other anchors. Her liberal agenda just leaves me cold and since the pendulum is about to swing WAY back to the right, she won't be quite so 'perky', I'm betting.

Opinion: What's Up With All These Out-of-Control, Bullying Parents? {ParentDish}

Feb 25th 2011 1:36AM Wow...life was so much easier when I just took a little 'flyback' paddle to my kids, they felt the sting, cried, I hugged them and told them how much I loved them, but that they should learn to obey. Everything was over in about 15 minutes. They learned to obey and by about age 9, were obedient, well behaved, great kids. No lingering evidence on Ebay testifying to a mother out of control. Shame that, but I'm sure she felt she had no alternative.

Walmart Losing Business, Looks to Retool {WalletPop}

Feb 23rd 2011 10:23PM Where have all of you been? Just TRY to find goods made in the U.S. It's almost impossible. NOTHING in the dollar stores is made here. Almost everything in all stores is made either in China or Sri Lanka or Mexico. Good ole` NAFTA took care of manufacturing jobs in the U.S. That's back when they thought we would become the high tech country of choice. Come to find out, people in Mexico and India can take your L.L. Bean orders just as well as someone who speaks English as a first language. (well, almost. You may end up getting a plaid shirt instead of a plain shirt). Until we have equal trade laws with China and India and lots of other outsourced manufacturing countries, we'll be buying imports. You can't even count Mexico. There are enough illegal Mexicans here now, that even they are complaining about having to buy imports.

Sarah Ferguson in Tears After Queen's Royal Snub {PopEater}

Feb 21st 2011 11:54PM This is a joke, right? They've invited Kanye to the royal wedding? Do they really want to take a chance that he'll interupt the ceremony with his racist rantings? He could stand up and scold the Anglican church for it's white supremist attitudes over the past 400 years. I mean...really? Maybe they want Kanye to cause scandal. There hasn't been Royal brouhaha since Charles married a divorced woman. Didn't they just make a movie about an heir to the throne who abdicated over his intentions to marry a divorced woman? Hmmmmmm.....how things have changed at Buckingham Palace and Westminster.

Was Alexander Hamilton President? {Holidash News}

Feb 21st 2011 12:22PM This kind of article, while humorous, can be confused by many of todays citizens, as truthful. We live in a world that is so uneducated that they just don't know the difference in real and sarcasm or farce. A lot of people who view this report, will truly believe there is some kind of controversy about whether Hamilton was president or not. I mean...if it's on the internet, it's true, right?

Confessions of a Coroner {AOL Jobs}

Feb 16th 2011 1:53PM Whining ....wah wah wah. If you didn't want the job, why did you go to medical school, work hard, and then take a job as a coroner? You could have gone to work doing something else in the medical field. I'm going to follow the reasoning of 'Jerry Macguire'....you followed the money. I suspect the coroner is a pretty well paid position or there would have been something more glamorous in the medicine that would have paid better. But wait...could it be because you don't have to pay malpractice fees? Ummm....makes one wonder, huh?

Report: Kristen Stewart Offered 'Snow White' Role {PopEater}

Feb 5th 2011 1:18AM Does Snow White have to speak?...if she does, Kristen Stewart is not the person for this role. You can't understand half of her lines, she mumbles, sighs, stammers, rolls her eyes...but she certainly isn't articulate. Her acting 'style' if you can call it that is depressing and can't imagine the 7 dwarfs will feel better about being vertically challenged if they have to do a movie with her.

Oscar de la Renta Criticizes Michelle Obama's Alexander McQueen Gown {Stylelist (Main)}

Jan 21st 2011 5:22PM Mr. de la Renta certainly does not need the Obama account. I'm not sure he would even want to design for someone with such obvious poor taste. The red dress was only appropriate in color. It didn't fit and looked odd and 'poochy' on the First Lady. If anyone has a handle on what is appropiate, it's Mr. de la Renta. He's been dressing beautiful women for a long time and he's never missed. Also, he's right...you don't wear a sweater set to Buckingham Palace. How embarassing for the United States.
