Cockpit Chronicles: Boeing vs Boeing. Pilots weigh in on the flight qualities of each type {Gadling}

Oct 1st 2011 10:31PM Great post!

A few questions for you, Kent:
1: Are you in Germany now? How are the commutes going and are you loving it?
2: What about this 737 MAX? Will it have a 757 nose to reduce cockpit noise? Will it be any wider to allow for greater passenger comfort? Or, is this all about new engines to promote fuel efficiency?
3: I have heard the term "ScareBus" more than once. Your airline just signed a substantial contract with Airbus Industrie. Can you do a column comparing and contrasting Airbus vs: Boeing? (# of aircraft flying, safety records, passenger ammenities (the A-320 seems wider/roomier than the Boeings, I like the bathroom sinks/water faucets in the lavs better than the Boeing...but I am a Boeing guy at heart...) I'm a 75K+ mile flier per year so I do have some opportunity to spend some time in each manufacturer's product. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Paul

Oct 11th 2010 3:49PM Oddly enough, I have traveled to and enjoyed every continent on this great planet except Antartica. I have felt welcome everywhere but have time and time again been harrassed by the US Border folks when re-entering my own country, the United States of America. I live in Maine and have had trouble at the border crossing in Calais and Jackman more than once. One time my partner and I were separated by the officers in Calais and the car was torn apart. The questions flew, insinuations of going to Canada for drug use and transport, etc. I am a medical professional (CRNA) and have no desire to risk my job or career to smoke a joint... Since we had only one small suitcase for our weekend away, we were made to feel VERY uncomfortable as a gay couple--and that is when the heat really got turned up. I wrote letters to my congressioal representatives and the supervising field office in Boston. Surprise: everything was as it should have been...the border patrol would NEVER discriminate. Well, I am 46 years old and had never felt singled out or discriminated againt...until trying to come home after a long weekend away in Prince Edward Island.
