Report: Toyota getting a unified look {Autoblog}

Jul 23rd 2010 8:38PM Not everyone makes the decision to purchase a durable good based on "desirability." Some people just want rock-solid long-term reliability. Only they don't go to websites like Autoblog. :-)

Report: Toyota getting a unified look {Autoblog}

Jul 23rd 2010 8:36PM If by VW's "spunk" you mean the new Jetta and failing engines, seals, and suspensions, I'd rather have Toyota maintain the status quo. However boring it is.

Mercedes-Benz's all-conquering E63 AMG gets power bump, interior upgrades {Autoblog}

Jul 20th 2010 5:17PM "The company has skinned the dash and door panels in Artico leather, and the center console will henceforth be dipped in a piano black lacquer finish for good measure – both of which used to be optional."

...Both of which were standard on the Cadillac CTS-V two years ago... For dozens $k less. And morons like Clarkson keep saying America can't make luxurious interiors? Keep living with decade-old stereotypes, euro fanboys.

Report: German mfgs cleaning up as appetite for luxury cars is 'bottomless' {Autoblog}

Jul 19th 2010 2:47PM I saw years ago that this would happen. China has all the potential to become world's largest luxury car market, especially given the Chinese tendency to flaunt their wealth. Whenever I see a flashy German car, 3 out of 4 times, the driver is Chinese. It's a trait of all post-command-economy countries. Russians are no different. They'll live with their parents, but they will drive a 3-Series. Trust me, I'm Russian. ;)

Canadians choose Volkswagen GTI as their Car of the Year {Autoblog}

Feb 14th 2010 11:20PM The comments — at least the first page — seem full of VW fanboys. Everyone who dares to criticize the car, gets minused, and everyone who waxes poetic over it is full 3 stars.

The car's front end is absolutely hideous compared to Mk V Golf. With these out-of-place black bezel headlights and blacked out grille, it looks like a cheap aftermarket mod job done by a 17-year old boy.

I also don't know why everybody is going bonkers over VW's "interior quality". Peer pressure maybe? I studied one in detail and noticed a number of areas with hard plastics, and there was noticeable wobble in control knobs.

The most unbelievable thing is that people are actually willing to pay incredible amount of money for these things. It gets to the point where VW can have the audacity to manufacture a two-generation old Golf and sell it to Canadians as a brand new car with a different name. It's a slap in the face to an entire nation. Branding does fantastic things to people.

Study: First cars more memorable for most than first kiss or first love {Autoblog}

That's what you think.

Study: First cars more memorable for most than first kiss or first love {Autoblog}

Aug 14th 2009 2:05PM I am still happily together with the first lady I kissed, so for me this is a moot point.

Would you leave The States if Obama loses? {Gadling}

Oct 27th 2008 4:27PM "And Scandinavia's suicide rate is twice that of the United States'. I wonder if that has anything to do with their high rate of alcoholism."

This has nothing to do with their high rate of alcoholism, and has everything to do with the destruction of the ideas of family, duty and commitment. Thinking that they are "advanced" and "liberated" from dogmas and expectations, people in Scandinavia are actually miserable in the face of completed absence of any guides in life. The countries are awash in divorce and single motherhood. The word "marriage" no longer means anything, and sexual partners are selected overnight, not as a result of two compatible people gravitating towards each other.

Scandinavia is a wonderful place to visit, but living there is the last thing I'd ever do. One time was enough.
