Lost in translation: Microsoft retail stores not matching Apple success? {TUAW.com}

Nov 27th 2010 3:06PM I'm curious how many posters actually have set foot in a Microsoft store. Agreed with the above poster MS store had a lot of lookers Apple more buyers, but at least the store in Bellevue I thought was damn well marketed. Sure Microsoft has a PR image battle as unhip but if these stores are brand abassadors as opposed to actually generate profit yeah they convey a good example of many ways microsoft may make varying products.

Full disclosure I own both macs and pcs just was surprised the store seemed less unhip than I would have expected.

Why you shouldn't be concerned about airport x-rays and patdowns {Gadling}

Nov 17th 2010 4:31PM @ Grant Martin

EXACTLY my point if it is indeed so easy to get around these measures because they are only half implemented, how much safes are they actually making us? Pretty sure anyone wanting to do us harm has figured this out as well.

Nov 17th 2010 2:10PM "Most of you won't encounter a backscatter or millimeter wave scanner at the checkpoint. They've only been installed at select, high-traffic airports around the country. Chances are, you'll go through the normal magnetometer and carry on with your normal flight."

How does that remotely make sense when they are installed at ~67+ of the highest travel airports in the country that MOST of us won't experience this, as MOST of us will be going through these exact airports? HUH?

Guatemala travel alert: road to Lake Atitlan closed until year's end due to mudslides {Gadling}

Nov 15th 2010 10:52PM Let me preface this with saying I have spent more than 15 trips toGuatemala and spent a number of summers in Antigua and around Atitlan. Make no mistake about it as referenced inthe travel advisory Guatemala has a high crime rate which has only gotten worse the last few years. I haven't been back in a little over a year since friends down ther recommended staying away as murders and kidnappings are on the rise. Also FYI taking a tour bus on those remote roads just makes you a greater target as twice when I returned people on my flight commented about being robbed on the main road to Ati. Once again Guatemala is a beautiful country currently racked with higher crime and gangs largely backed by the drug trade. VERYunfortunate por Los Chapines.

Three Tesla employees killed in twin-engine plane crash {Engadget}

Feb 18th 2010 2:11PM Sad to hear; I had the pleasure of working with the Tesla engineers for a cpl of years & they were all nothing less than a class act. Here's to hoping their legacies are EV's everywhere in a few more years!
