Jan 28th 2009 3:08PM Why does everybody whine over $180,000 worth of clothes when both the Republicans AND the Democrats waste that much in one day on meaningless things ... Be realistic people, the politicians are not very frugal with the tax payers money ... It does not matter one bit WHO the President is ...
Dec 19th 2008 8:25PM During my tenure with TSA I traveled and worked at many airports from ocean to ocean including Alaska and Hawaii. I, too, was subject to the exact same screening process each and everyone of you go through. I also worked the Democratic and Republican conventions in 2004. My background had been checked by local authorites, state authorities, F.B.I and the Secret Service.
I have seen many of the atrocities that people mention in these blogs and reported them as I saw them. But, I can say that there are many hardworking and dedicated TSA people out there. Don't judge many by the actions of a few.
Next time you have a problem take it up the ladder. There are supervisors at every checkpoint, security managers and Federal Security Directors at every airport.
TSA has an SOP, but, many airports define it differently and have their own individual add ons.
Just go with the flow, don't argue when asked to remove your shoes or laptop, follow the rules and you will make it to your destination on time.
Check the TSA website for additional information on prohibited and non-prohibited items. www.tsa.gov
I fly out tomorrow to spend the holidays with friends.
I hope that you all have a great Holiday ...

Dec 19th 2008 7:38PM Kudos to Matt for standing up for his fellow employees. I am a retired TSA employee ....
Aug 20th 2008 3:11PM TSA may be a joke, but, you continue to fly don't you, buck-o .... Every try writing your congressman or better yet, try taking a Greyhound bus ....
Aug 8th 2008 2:52PM People will pack the strangest thing .. Some good, some bad and some ugly ... When you work international flights for TSA you see many strange things ... One of my experiences involved a young lady traveling to London, a medium sized valise and 450 packages of red licorice. By the time I finished the bag check we were both laughing so hard I had tears coming out of my eyes ... Nothing like a good belly laugh and a friendly passenger ... Makes up for all the bad ones ... Six years, traveled the country for the National Screening Force, worked approx. 36 airports, retired and many memories ..
Jul 28th 2008 4:18PM TSA has an SOP that should be followed. It says that you should offer anyone a private screening at any time. Obviously the person (TSO) was ignorant to that and in my opinion should have been terminated. But, we only get one side of that story. As for the woman arguing with a TSA agent that to should be grounds for dismissal as TSA has a policy for not touching passengers unless you are threatened with bodily harm. A Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) should have been notifiedand let him handle that.
TSA has many people that are power hungry and just because they work for SEcurity gives them no more rights than the average citizen. Those gung-ho idiots should have been weeded out long ago. And that is just one of the reasons I retired from TSA.
Jul 15th 2008 6:33AM Thank you Emma Leigh .. Its refreshing to see someone stand up for their fellow Officers instead of listening to slanderous idiots ..... Former TSA/NDO
