Mar 22nd 2007 7:50PM Not all projects need specific skills though, some just require manpower, and if someone wants to spend their free time trying to help, even if it is just for a month, then who are we to begrudge that? It is important that they do not get in the way of skilled locals though and the projects are properly managed.
As for the money issue, this is the biggest problem we face - distributing aid money, sometimes it can cause more problems than good. This needs very careful management and the right people in charge, which in some of these countries can be very difficult to find.
