May 8th 2009 5:07PM Then there are those of us who do not get Social Security (even though our late spouse paid the maximum for over 25 years) because we are educators. We don't get the stimulus check, but the minute taxes are raised we get hit.
And this happens after working for 32 years!

Jul 30th 2008 10:08PM As I read the previous comments, I was surprised that no one mentioned the UNION protection for employees who demonstrate poor performance. Many comments recommended firing the lousy workers. Have YOU ever tried to fire someone protected by a union? Nearly impossible!
Consumers of service industries can be most difficult to deal with. Unreasonable demands, rude behavior and general "me first" attitudes are common. Courtesy or lack thereof is a two way street!
I agree the article describes an appalling situation. I also agree there is something missing here. AND I agree that handicapped persons have to take some responsibility for their own care and well being. Yes, I too am handicapped. Most of my life I have been dealt with kindly and compassionately. The rare instances of near abuse have forced me to realize there are creeps that inhabit this world.

I know how fortunate I am to be an American! You need not apologize for exercising your right to free speech. Kudos to you for correcting everyone's misperception of what you were trying to say. Now, calm down and find a better outlet for your anger.

Jul 22nd 2008 2:38PM You just proved my point Denise. In your original blog you said "I hate this country" and you meant Mexico. Now in the most recent blog you say "I love this country" and you mean the USA. Guess who needs to get an education and learn how to accurately communicate in writing!
