Tuesday Travel Trivia (Week 9) {Gadling}
Dec 23rd 2008 10:38AM 1. Maarten Troost.
2. Reno, right?
3. Jo'burg & Pretoria
4. Rick Steves, I think.
5. ORD, Chicago O'Hell.
6. TWA.
7. Mediterranean
8. Poland. Then again, most things in Polish are hard to pronounce. I wish they'd kept Szczeczin as Stettin.
9. I don't know. (The kangaroo. Did you see what I did there?)
10. Sochi. It'll be interesting to see how the geopolitical threats in the rest of the Caucasus affect the games, actually.

Product review - Solo CheckFast Netbook instant messenger bag {Gadling}
Dec 22nd 2008 3:15PM Hmm. To me, it screams "Hi! I've got a laptop inside! Please steal me!" -- but then again, so do all laptop bags.
For roughly the same money, I'll take whatever the Gap has on sale and a laptop sleeve.

Is NYC's subway about to get more expensive? {Gadling}
Dec 22nd 2008 10:45AM Ahahaha. As an ex-Londoner and a New Yorker by birth, with London's ridiculously priced Tube, I pine for the simplicity and the absolute bargain that is the NYC Subway. Oh, and it runs all night, too.

Inflight Internet on Delta arrives just in time for the Holiday season {Gadling}
Dec 15th 2008 4:32PM Following up on my tweet, I just posted about this too on Voyagers.
I'm not convinced that the short flight times on the Shuttle make it worthwhile, but I like the idea on transcon flights. (I want someone to solve the laptop-and-seat-back-tray-gap problem, too.)
And Stephen Fry getting caught by the paparazzi on arrival at LAX because he'd been tweeting inflight gave me a laugh.
Galley Gossip: Interview with a flight attendant - ME! {Gadling}
Dec 15th 2008 11:04AM "My jumpseat alone was something to write home about."
Actually, never having got higher up the passenger food chain, I'd love to hear more about your experiences on a G.
(And are you *serious* about the blueberry muffin incident?)

The best cocktails in the world {Gadling}
Dec 12th 2008 8:55PM New York City? Sundowner in the Rainbow Room.
I remember many a happy martini in the Shanghai Jin Mao Tower's Hyatt hotel bars, overlooking the Bund. The sunsets were gorgeous:

Good times.

Win a LaCie Rugged and iPod nano from PowerMax {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Dec 11th 2008 8:30AM I'd back up my 80GB of music and 200GB of iTunes videos somewhere other than my creaking WD drive!
7 fantastic airport restaurants from around the world {Gadling}
Dec 10th 2008 4:07PM You know, a good Cornish pasty and a pint of real ale at Newquay Airport in Cornwall beats just about any other airport food ever.
Sounds of Travel: Eddie From Ohio {Gadling}
Dec 9th 2008 6:22PM Man, I love EFO as roadtrip music. I have a roadtrip playlist on my iPod that contains a fair deal of EFO, a good chunk of Girlyman, some Simon & Garfunkel and a smattering of U2.
...actually, that gives me an idea: I should make a Giant Roadtrip Playlist post on my own blog.
Galley Gossip: Flight attendant vacation - Venice (Cannaregio) {Gadling}
Jul 1st 2008 12:49PM The other alternative to avoid the tourist crowds in Venice is to go in late January. I did so in 2005, and was one of four (FOUR!) people in St Mark's. It wasn't too cold -- warmer than New York at that time of year -- and running around a square in Venice with snow falling will be one of those memories I always cherish.
