Your daily Burj Dubai update {Gadling}
Aug 16th 2008 2:54PM I would hate to be living near that thing! Traffic plus the possibility of a collapse somewhere down the road.... What happens years down the road when they need to implode the building due to dicay and wear and tear (even if they try it would be far too difficult to maintain such a building!) I wounder what the intent is for that building, stores? just a business (office jobs) or what???
Autistic child kicked off flight {Gadling}
Jun 26th 2008 12:24AM Austistic people can't feel empathy, or sadness for others, or really any feeling for anyone else's feeling... If tommy see's adam fall... tommy's just going to say what he knows... adam fall... not uh oh adam has an owy... adam are you okay? like kids who feel sad for someone who just got hurt... they will say that if they have seen that same scenario and someone used that type of dialouge before... I picture it happened like this...
Flight person worked too long... was frustrated due to any or many cercumstances (related and not related to work)... Then a mother comes on board with a tot who is scared because this is a first or one of the first flight(s) he has been on. The mother can't cuddle the scared toddler... the toddler is autistic so he can't relay how he feels in words at all, since he can't comprehend emotions, he just feels the emotions, reacts to how he feels, REMEMBER YOU CAN NOT REASON WITH AN AUTISTIC PERSON! So the mother tries her best to calm a child who is not only unable to comprehend the situation due to brain ability, but also because he's 2 yrs old... The child knows he is scared, (ROUTINE IS EVERYTHING TO AN AUTISTIC CHILD, YOU BREAK A ROUTINE AND ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE) so he thinks, I am scared and I want to sit with mommy (he really just feels that, it's routine scared, sit in mommy's lap... get hugs, feel better, right?) well instead he is told he can't (he's unable to understand that) so he gets a bit upset, then a flight person comes in and tries to play god by trying to tell a little kid who is boss (she prob. felt like she'd be able to "fix it" and have no more guff the rest of the way) the child is scared of the enviroment and now a stranger who for all we know he thinks is a bad mean monster... so she tighten's his strap and leaves... the boy prob. felt panicked and wanted to get away before she comes back, so the battle ensues... until the flight person gets huffy and the mom puts her foot down...
How come in this day and age the employee is always right? My daughter's great aunt even had that experience at burger king because they refused to fix their mistake....
Here is what I think... Customer pays for service/product... proceeds go to pay for employee's, the boss's, and the entire company's wages... now how come they don't think about that before they take sides? They just think, I trained this person and used my time and some money to find, train, and hire them... I don't want to waist my time fixing a problem between this person I see a lot and this other one I might not see ever again... I had this experience a few times, the customers behind me saw it I asked if I acted out of line and they told the employee that she was acting inappropriate...
