Flint police cracks down on sagging pants {Gadling}
Jun 28th 2008 1:57PM Another question might be, why doesn't anyone -- oh, I don't know... maybe the editor of Gadling, let's say (just a thought) -- fine gramatically-challenged PAID writers of travel-based blog entries for wasting space with inane, obtuse and outright pointless entries?
Oh well - I guess we can all dream....
That must be a pretty deep barrel you're scraping the bottom of, Iva!
Three Hidden Gems in Bangkok {Gadling}
Jun 26th 2008 12:43PM Excellent! This is the kind of material that Gadling was meant for. Informative, interesting, off-the-beaten track kind of stuff that makes people WANT to visit the places mentioned. Criticism is good too, but I find articles like this far more enjoyable. And let's face it - if you're going to Bangkok anytime soon, wouldn't YOU bookmark this article?
I've been to Thailand several times and lived for a year in Singapore. Bangkok is still the best place to visit and the absolute definition of not knowing what's around the next corner!
You make me want to go back... NOW! Thanks.
Autistic child kicked off flight {Gadling}
Jun 25th 2008 11:32PM I find myself in an unusual position. I am by no means a fan of the tripe that Iva writes on Gadling and have said so on numerous occasions. However, her initial comment at the top of her post bares repeating: "...a country priding itself for valuing diversity."
With this discussion of autism -- which is what this off-topic thread has become -- an incredible lack of compassion has been shown to be front and center in many of the posts.
I myself agree that the pilot absolutely did the right thing and stated so earlier. That does not excuse the rampant mean-spiritedness, outright lack of understanding and flagrant narcissism of some of these responses. I think everyone needs to chill!
Seeing the words of all these mothers, fathers, teachers and loved ones writing about their experiences -- some extremely personal -- is enlightening, and we should all accept their input. Most seem to speaking from the heart.
However, it ain't easy to fly with a broken leg either, but you'll get plenty of sympathy from others onboard, including the cabin crew. But stick that leg in the aisle just one more time, pal, and you're off the plane! Just the way it is - safety first regardless and everyone appreciates it.
Man, I haven't seen this much 'flame' since Windows Vista competed for world supremacy. Get pissed off, say your piece, argue to your heart's content, but lapsing into buffoonery is quite pointless.
Having said all that, and humbly accepting that, yes, Iva has indeed hit a nerve (not to mention 'knocked one out of the park' with all these comments), I go back to my initial observation from the get-go: What the hell is this discussion doing on Gadling?!
