Jan 17th 2011 5:57PM From what I was told by the guy from VWoA. The Germans when looking at for the American market. It would have been to costly for the US. They spent much more in designing it for the European market. From my contact at VWoA he says that the Germans dont really get the US market and what they would really like to have.

Jan 17th 2011 4:25PM I'm close friends with the Dir of US Marketing and this is what I was told as to why it isnt here. It was never designed to be here in the first place. By knowing this right off the bat VW spent upwards of $15MM on design and development. On the new MKV GTI it only spent roughly $4MM. With the development costs if it was brought over here it would have cost somewhere around $43,000 US. A price range way out of what the market would have been willing to pay. So, the choice way made based on how much was spent to develop it and what it would take to recoup the costs.

Nov 4th 2009 2:58PM I have a business that uses a 60mW green laser for doing graffiti on buildings. I always stand right next to people. I grab their arm or laser when a plane goes overhead and if they start even looking like they are about to point it in the direction of a plane; the fun is over. My laser will easily go 15 miles and at distance the beam will increase in size. Just plain stupidity.

I know this car well. I used to get dropped off to school in one. My father was regular PD and then they created this division. He would also go to gas stations and do inspections on their pumps. I used to love flipping on the lights and sirens on 101 pulling someone over while heading to school. I still have his badge. He could do everything a standard officer could do. He just wouldnt answer to standard calls. Almost all of you have used a gas nozzle that is from OPW or Emco Weiden (sp). The vapor recovery, the black crinkled rubber that covers the nozzle. Thats my fathers design, sold to OPW at first.
My father passed away 2 years ago, so this brings back fond memories.

May 18th 2009 9:40AM Lets see. 85 mph head on at impact. A helmet, at the time in Florida had to be worn. Seeing the fractured and cracked helmet like an egg shell..I'm still here. Without it I'd be dead. Simple as that.
Oh, its wasn't me that caused the accident. Also, the number of deaths since repealing the law here in FL has gone up.

Review: 2008 Volkswagen R32 {Autoblog}
Jun 23rd 2008 1:50PM I'm sorry you drove the MKV R32, really I am. There is a big gap in everything that the 04 MKIV R32 is.
There is basicly no difference between the MKV GTI and the MKV R32. The interior is not as nice as the 04 variant, brakes are not as big in front. You also loose out on not having a 6 speed manual.
My 04 R32 weighs in at 3200lbs, has close to 300hp to a ll four wheels and seats a 4 year old in the rear center with no issues. Top speed as roughly 162mph.
I would invite you, Chris to the Orlando area for a comparison test drive.
